At $52.95 a set, July 17th at 12 noon, means nothing to me!

I don't think it's that bad of a deal, considering just the D.C. & Territories Silver Proof Set was offered from the mint for $29.95 + shipping. Thats over half the cost for the whole 2009 silver set (which is 18 coins not 6)
I used to order 5 or 10, but that's a little pricey.
Of course I managed to miss the big years! '99 and '01!

I don't need to pay for the extra set of Prez dollars and Lincoln cents!
I suspect most that buy the silver proof sets buy the clad sets anyway.

<< <i>This will be my last year of buying these. They are now very overpriced with a poor history of price appreciation in the secondary market. >>
So why buy the '09's?

I'm assuming for a "full collection" of silver proof state quarters, now that they've added the territories?

No need to buy the whole '09 set just to get the Territories. Linkage

I use them as gifts. This year's sets will complete the states/districts/territories/commonwealths set that started in 1999. They also have the Lincoln cents in them.
Next year, I'll find something else to use as gifts.

Maybe for the cents too as well possibly? For me it is my granddaughter's birth year.
From the mint mailer...
This set contains 18 coins struck in beautiful proof condition. Yeah right, maybe half of them are. Besides proof is a method of manufacture not a state of condition. You'd think they'd know the difference.
I'll get 2
My dirty little secrt I have the proof set run from 1950 to now... Working on the 36-42 sets now...
