Each roll could also be submitted for individual FDI Slabs. Well, 5 rolls that is under the bulk program.
BTW, PCGS does have a roll program where a box of 1000 can be submitted for FDI roll grading of 20 coins per roll. This is only available to authorized dealers. Additionally, each box which is received from the FEDs that has a seal indicating "Do Not Open before the Release Date can qualify as FDI Coins.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
There are people out there who are willing to pay high prices for the few coins in these rolls that get very high grades. There are also people who pay for the first day of issue designation … I’m not one of them.
But from a marketing perspective these folks must make this work because it is done continually.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
When the GW first came out the understanding was that only coins submitted on first day were eligible for 1st day slabs. Then some weasel in marketing decided any 1000 coin brick was eligible as long as seal was intact.
I'm still pi**ed off over that change in the rules as I was one of many who made some not so small an effort to get coins sent in that first day.
Technically you could submit a brick of 1000 GWs today and still get 1st day inserts if brick was sealed.

At least that makes sense though, if the brick IS sealed with a date on the box.
The First Strike program makes less sense because we've all seen how the Mint ships in any order it chooses.
It does of course, stink, that they changed the rule (or at least the understanding) after you hustled to get them in though!

PCGS First Day policy doesn't make any sense at all.....the seal simply says not to sell before a certain date. It is not a date stamp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every single box of 1000 coins has the same seal. They were not shipped from mint on same day nor were they shipped from Federal Reserve on same day nor were they shipped from Loomis or Wells Fargo on same day nor were they released by banks on same day.
The boxes actually have date stamps but those are not what PCGS uses.
I'll stand by my statement that some weasel in marketing saw a chance to make money and rules changed. It is a sham.............
That's an incentive. Though, I've estimated it would cost upwards of $5k to $8k to do a whole box if that's what they did, so breaking even would require several of those MS68 Monroe Denver Pos B to be sold.
hmmm...... and with such low pops, I'm thinking only the really big dealers are doing this.... thus the low pops and high prices.

Other possibility is some telemarketer planning to sell them on TV but they wouldn't likely share the order.

but that's insane to get all those coins graded UNC???
I can get unopened unc. rolls at the bank for face value
(I, too, admit that I'm having trouble grasping that concept.)
