79, 80, 81 Vending from BBCE..

Has anyone recently bought any 79, 80, 81 BB vending from BBCE? How were the cards, condition/centering? Has anyone subbed anything?

Thanks in advance,
Alex

I'm curious too. The '79T BB vending seems very tempting, as does the '78T FB vending. I'm also worried about centering and corners.

I bought an 81 topps BB vending box from BBCE a month or two ago. BBCE's service was exceptional, as always. The cards were not great. The centering was pretty sketchy, and I would not recommend it if you are trying to get a ton of 9s and 10s. Corner dings are too common b/ of the flimsy vending boxes topps used. Go for rack packs (not grocery racks) in 1981 topps. That is the way to go, in my opinion.

    Good Luck!

Alex: I've opened two rack cases of 81 topps -- I got a total of 1 psa 10 (a common). Racks are usually nicer than vending too.

If you want 10's on 1981, it is much, much, much cheaper to buy them already graded on ebay.

I had the exact situation with some '81 Topps vending boxes from BBCE a month or two ago. I had no problem with BBCE but the cards were extremely poor. I may have sent two or three cards in for grading out of 3 or 4 vending boxes. Again, BBCE was top notch but even BBCE gets some average cards sometimes.

i purchased a 78t fb vending a few years back. i hope they wouldn't be from the same batch. lots of spider creasing on them. same with 78t bkb purchased at the same time. probably just a bad batch.

i agree to go with rack if you are looking for something gradeable.

edited: sorry for skirting around the OPs question.

    Thanks,

Thanks again for all the advice guys. I guess I have known that Rack's were the best places for finding gradeable cards, but the prices on the vending's can be so tempting..

there is a reason the prices are so temptingimage

If you can find sealed vending cases from original owners that havent been handled much, you might have some better luck.

I opened about 5 rack boxes of 81 and got about 30-40 10s.
I opened about 25 vending boxes from 79-85 and yielded probably 0 10s. maybe 1 here or there by mistake..
