Your team did not lose tonight! That is quite an accomplishment.

Of course it was an off night for the team but it's still worth celebrating image

Sincerely,

WHEW! Since OUR METS have not been playing very well, I was a little nervous that Lidge would be staying on the DL for a while longer. I feel a lot better now that I just read he's coming off the DL and will be ready to blow saves once again!

Would that be the road from Veterans Stadium to that new field they play in built just to inflate the players HR totals?

SteveK, I understand your team is in first, but how can you be happy with that record? In any other division you would be in trouble! BTW, if your Sillies were out west, you would be out of first by 8 games. Be happy you don't have to play the mighty tough Orioles all year long. lol

That's the same argument that SteveK and Kevin use all the time. Yes that's great the Phillies won it all last year, but the games this year are not won on last years accomplishments. This is the 2009 season and we still aren't even half way done. Lots could change.....Except we do know that R.Howard will strike out at least 80 more times this year. LMAO

I'd have edited this to the above post but that seems to rub a certain parties panties into a bunch
so I'll add it here, even with his k's Howard is on pace to hit 45 140 260 which places
    him in the NL elite.

As long as the Phillies are in first place, doesn't matter what the record is...if your team is in second place, only then do ya gotta worry about what the record is for a playoff spot. Case closed.

Come on now...that's a silly analogy. The Bucs won it years ago, while the Phillies are the current reigning world champions - I think the current world champions have bragging rights until there is the next champion...and besides the Phillies are in first place in their division...plus the Phillies traditionally are a better second half team...yes, losing 6 straight at home is amazingly bad, but overall I'm really not unhappy at all

It has everything to do with Phillies fans will be happy for quite a number of years, regardless of what happens this season as it's very hard to repeat for a variety of reasons, and Phillies fans understand that...

...and it also has everything to do with sheer jealousy from non-Phillies fans...the Phillies players are a great group of guys, talented, hard working, fun to watch, good citizens of the community, and almost any baseball fan in my opinion would love to swap their team players for the Phillies players, especially teams that have nothing but a bunch of unmotivated, underachieving, stinkin' loser mercenaries polluting their ballpark.

I agree that is does matter being in first which allows you to make the playoffs but its always nice to know your team will go far into the playoffs.

No it's not Steve, Because you and Kevin are always living on last year or the past and this is a totally different season. Also, I think you should be proud of last years Phillies title as you never know when the next one will be.
