Bought some silver bars today

I went to one of the local coin shops today and while rummaging through the silver bars I noticed a very neat bar. It was an Elvis Presley 1 oz. bar with a picture of Elvis on the front in one of his rhinestone jumpsuits holding a microphone with his signature on top and 1935-1977 on the bottom, on the back of the bar it says Dahlonega mint with .999 fine one ounce underneath it. Being a big Elvis fan I snatched it up and put it in a pile of Engelhards with a few other odd bars and forked over $15.50 per bar.
I did a little research and it looks like the bar was made in 1983 with a mintage of 2,500 so I would say $15.50 is a pretty good deal.

<< <i>Thanks, I just love it when an odd bar shows up and being a silver junkie I need my fix. >>
I hear you. I just found this beauty yesterday at my favorite local shop.
I don't think it's too rare, but you don't see them every day.

I've picked up a few nice bars lately for close to spot, I'll have to snap some digi's. I feel left out
Interesting find thoday - A National 1 oz "Happy Mothers Day" bar from 1986 with the date on it, except they had the wrong date! Right next to it was a similar bar with the correct date. Didn't pick them up, but if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll go back.
<< <i>Sounds like a winner to me. My Uncle Loves Elvis and has just about everything with his name/photo on it. I don't think he has any silver, Maybe a nice xmas gift for him. I'll have to write that down. Just think, If that were a coin it would be worth Thousands lol.

Yeah I'm a huge Elvis fan and this is perhaps the most enjoyable silver bar purchase I've ever made ( although I really like my Homestake mine 104.52 oz. and 49.96 oz. bars and I snagged a gang of 7-1973 watergate bar which is really cool too). Yes you are correct if this Elvis bar were a coin in the condition it's in it would be worth thousands of dollars.
<< <i>I bought these a couple weeks ago.

I really like that old poured 10 oz. Silvertowne bar, gotta get me one of them.
For example the Homestake bar Norseman was talking about.........the premium is small on that one compared to a 10 oz one.

<< <i>Yes the smaller NCM bars bring a decent premium. 1, 2, 3 oz bars sell for $35, $60, $65 +/- few bucks. Not much premium on the 5, 10, 50, 100 oz bars. >>
Thanks for the info, do you know what years these bars were produced?
<< <i>larger the bar, usually smaller the premium! Smaller bars get more of a premium.

yeah, I figured the Homestake bars were a little big to bring a huge premium, I like them because the Homestake mine is in South Dakota not to far from where I live and the 104.52 oz. bar was made in 1979 the timeframe of the great Silver bull market.

<< <i>Its an awesome looking bar but too bad the decimal was back 1-2 times. I own several of the Homestake bars, a kilo one and some 10 oz ones, they are very neat and fetch a good premium. >>
If you ever want to sell one of your 10 ounce Homestake bars let me know. Do the Kilo and 10 ounce bars also have a date stamped into them???

Very neat looking bars, similiar to my 49.96 and 104.52 oz. bars in shape and the markings are all the same.
