Anyone ever do a paypal dispute vs Beckett?

Here is the story...I find a seller that I want 6 cards from...all in the 30 cent to 1.00 range. I pay for them using paypal. Now if any of you have ever ordered from Beckett Marketplace, the money goes to Beckett then they pass it on to the dealer.

I get an email with a partial Paypal refund. The seller has ONE 30 cent card and says he was sold out of the rest! Im not paying 3.00 for a 30 cent card so I filed a Paypal dispute because I refused to be fleeced like that.

So, anyone ever go against Beckett on a dispute? What happened? Will I have success or will Beckett ban me from shopping in the marketplace ever again?

    This is an interesting one.

There is no such thing as a "decided SNAD," on non-EBAY transactions.

An INR claim would be defeated by mere delivery of the ONE card.

Beckett has been known to go soup nazi on problem buyers.

Thus, the best solution is likely to communicate with the seller. Maybe
he has something else you could add to the order, to make the shipping
    less nasty.

I was thinking of it a bit differently, Storm. I thought Beckett might come down a bit harder on the seller for not updating their inventory, thus falsely advertising items for sale.

The problem with contacting the seller is that you do not know the items are no longer for sale until they ship. Then, I either eat it or dispute it. I know, its probably not worth the hassle for 3.00 but I dont want to make the mistake using that seller again at least without some sort of warning from Beckett otherwise the sellers can keep playing the "I only have one 30 cent card game but thanks for the handling charges on my overpriced shipping"

That sounds doable, BUT it would have prolly been better to chat them up BEFORE
    filing anything at PayPal.

    Still worth a try, though.

Unless a seller fails to deliver an item, PayPal is really not much help on non-EBAY deals.

ahh nevermind I understand it now, Barry got a partial refund but the shipping is still 3.00

He may not have bought the 1 card seeing the shipping would be 3.00 on a 30 cent card.

With 10 cards (or whatever) it was worth it.

    Good for you.
  • I had a similar thing, the a seller sent me a common, instead of the autograph version of the card.
I got refund except shipping, seller said it was beckett's fault I didn't get a full refund
    I email beckett no response (paypal@beckett.com, customerservice@beckett.com)
I open a dispute, no response
Paypal says this is a SNAD, they can't do anything
I email beckett to this other email
    MPAdmin@beckett.com
I get a response and they tell me the seller is the one that didn't sent me the full refund

Too much work, but it was the principle to finally get my full refund

Why would paypal say they can not do anything? Are they in cahoots with Beckett? I have had no response from Beckett on my Paypal claim.

I've actually had a seller on the BMP claim the money...then tell me they no longer had the card...they "refund," but Beckett doesn't have a method of selecting "not in stock" after the money is claimed, so they had to run it as a "return." The refund from Beckett only included the price of the card, not the shipping...the seller was honest and cut me a check though.

mexisar said his was a SNAD claim.

PP does NOT cover SNADs, on transactions conducted outside of EBAY.

    ..........

Call PP and ask them what the status on your claim is.

  • You can send e-mails to Beckett and the dealer explaining explicitly why you are unsatisfied. Let them know that if they do no have an appropriate solution, you will file a chargeback with the credit card company -- simply let them know you never recieved the product you ordered, which is completely true. If it is your first time doing this, they will absolutely side with you. Paypal will be the one who loses out on the $3, they will then decide if they want to hold Beckett accountable for lazy business practices
