yeah, I see what you're saying. I just felt like a profit could still be made at $3500. That being said, me being a poker player and car salesman, my willingness to gamble on good looking raw cards might be a too high. I've had pretty good luck so far, but obviously it can backfire (the raw '65 set I bought). But, I wouldn't have bought the '65 set if the seller didn't offer a refund either.
I guess card collecting kind of gives me another outlet to compete and challenge myself, if you will. I played college golf and basketball and am extremely competitive. Poker provides that rush of competing and I can do it at any age. Collecting provides that rush as well, and being a huge sports fan makes me appreciate the players' themselves.
I'm not saying I'd pay more than $2,500 for it either (I like to leave myself an "ooops" cushion), but the 12 graded cards that are in the set have a resale value of approx. $1,000 and that could justify someone paying closer to $3,000.
<< <i>5300.00 for that set seems like a decent price..........

gonna be hard to turn a profit unless a lot of them come back as 8's, but it would be hard to get a raw set in this condition at an auction house for less if the buyer is looking to keep a nice set.

I'd want it at a wholesale price.

means you would have out bid me and possibly got a set you could make dough on.
Even at 3500.00 your price point was under 6.00 per card.
And the seller does have the mantle in 7 already graded for you.
2500.00 was a lowball bid, yours was more like it.

This should get interesting.

Depends on what the winner plans on doing with the set.
Not everyone buys sets on Ebay to flip for profit.
For all we know the guy bought this set, has a set already and wants to combine
the 2 and make 1 better one.
I would have sold that set too and gladly took the 5k.
