found my 1/20 gold panda -- crude video added

years ago, I was given a 1/20 ounce gold Panda... forgot all about it until I just found it in a box with a pair of cufflinks.

it's still in the original sealed plastic from their mint.

I looked at it, and then checked prices for it on ebay. but this is not a price question...

my panda has frosted features and mirrored fields... is this a proof? the ebay examples I saw for the same date (2006) do not have what appear to be frosting and mirror fields in their photos.

link to a very CRUDE video of the coin

No proofs issued past 1996 on the gold pandas.

thank you for the info about no gold pandas for this year.

Now, I don't know anything about what gold pandas should look like, but if I had an US coin with mirrored fields and frosted devices (and it was not a proof) I would think that I had a very, very high quality, high grade UNC.

Can you tell me if mirrored fields and frosted devices are common on these??

If it is common, I will put this baby back with the cuff links in the box. LOL

    thanks, Alan

The gold price is actually above the high end of your trading range, so now would be a great time to sell! image

thanks PreTurb but this Panda represents my long term bullion holdings. And the only part of my "long term bullion holdings"... along with the cuff links. image

In general, the later year pandas (2000-present) are almost always proof-like in quality. Unless the coin was an MS 70, there will be no premium on your coin versus another raw example.

thank you Gecko, that answers my question... the coin can once again stay in the box with the Bar Mitzvah cufflinks, and the pinky ring from the 1960s, and the ID bracelet from the 1970s, and the neck chain from the 1980s...
