New Roosevelt Double Die Obverse?

erwindocerwindoc Posts: 5,145 ✭✭✭✭✭
Doing some roll searching and came across this. The photo is not the best, but I am not using my good camera at this time. I can try again later. Let me have some opinions, but it looks to me that there is doubling in the "2" of the 2008 in the top and along the body of the number. It has soft round edges, not like the double strike coins I have seen with sharp edges. The photo is upside down as it makes it easier to view due to his neck. There is not doubling at the bottom of the neck, it is glare from the lights.

It could be machine doubling. That is not the same as a Double Die. Other forum members could help you to find out where that information may be obtained. It's been awhile since I did some research on that. Good Luck!

I have only just started into roosie varieties, but machine doubling was my first impression as well.

Kindof hard to tell without looking at it with a loop though (At least for me).

Looks like machine doubling to me as well. It's usually on the whole date though.

Looks like machine doubling, but it also looks like a Dropped Letter (or in this case number) 2 on the neck.
