You always have to wonder when a nice looking coin (other than early copper when raw rules) is offered raw, "What's wrong with it?" given the prevalence of slabbing these days. Selling a coin like this raw, especially on eBay, is a warning sign so far as I’m concerned. Why put yourself at a disadvantage as a seller when getting the coin in a slab with a decent grade on it will enhance your ability to sell the coin as well as the selling price?
With old Proof coins, different angles of photography yeild different results. You can't go by one picture. Here are two views of the same seated quarter shot at different angles.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
<< <i>From what I've heard, those sellers crack out low grade and problem proofs and sell them raw. Beware. >>
I've always been impressed by their (GSC) ability to get top dollar for minor problem and/or overgraded coins month after month on fleabay.....not that this is something I care to do, just an observation.

I asked this seller why he did not have such nice pieces graded. He replied, "He does not play that game".

As others point out it is too good to be true. The photo is flooded with light washing out any hairlines or other details so we can't really say why this coin didn't slab. Its one thing if you view the coin in hand, love it and don't care if it won't slab, its another thing to see an over exposed photo on eBay...

Yeah, he plays the "sell them on eBay with angled photos hiding the hairlines and see if they stick to some sucker that doesn't know better" game, IMO. On the bright side, he does have a good return policy.

You should be suspicious of shill bidding, not impressed.
I am sure what dizzyfoxx means is that the photo looks beautiful
when I see beautiful photos from them and MTC3015 I print them out because I am sure the coin will look nothing as good as the photo and I will have paid at least 50% too much for what I got
I bought a raw proof morgan from them. I could not get it returned fast enough. I actually had to file with PP to get my money back. The day i filed the claim he refunded. I have bought very few raw coins since then on ebay. Most of the time it is cheaper to buy a graded one.

That seller has had several raw 1853 quarters that had great looking pics. As my finger hung over the mouse key with my heart screaming yes... my mind won the day saying no.

Their claim that they're selling raw coins due to requests by their customers doesn't pass the laugh test.
