Any chance this Morgan will grade?

I've had this coin for years. One from my early collecting days. Came across it the today and thought I'd share. image I don't ever plan on slabbing it, but was just curious what the Morgan guys thought of it, any chance it would slab, and what your grade opinions are. image

Here's the pic:

  • Looks like it would grade. Rim ding at 5:30 other then that its just petty beat up. Au55 to ms 60 maybe

The coin is a nice MS-64 with that rim nick at 5:30 on the reverse. As such I could see it going into an MS-63 holder over at NGC and perhaps an MS-62 or 63 holder at PCGS. I've seen Morgan dollars with a rim mark mark like that a number of times in holders. The old NGC holders hide them pretty well.

RIM DING makes it questionable. IF it grades, I guess MS62.

No way is that coin an MS64. Nice coin, but not MS64 quality. I see it as MS62 on a good day-easily an MS61 on any other.

Yup, I agree with most of you. It's always been a 61/62 in my book. image Thanks for all the comments!

I don't think the rim ding is quite bad enough to keep it from grading.

I agree with the 61-62 assessment.

The rim ding is minor ,and due to the super strike for an O-Mint coin, I would say MS63.
