eBay added Features Worth Bucking up For?

I am going to be listing a major baseball vintage collection tonight on eBay and would like some advice/experience from the community, if you would be so kind.

This collection is 1950-1969 and should sell for well over 1K...Which of the following features are worth paying extra for? I am definitely going for at least a blue border and subtitle but not sure if I should buck up for something more.

Gift Icon ($0.25)
Promote your gift service with a icon next to your listing in search results

Bold ($2.00)
Attract buyers' attention by making the title of your listing appear in Bold

Highlight ($5.00)
Make your listing stand out in search results with a brightly colored band
Maximize your listing's visibility

Featured Plus! ($9.95)
Upgrade your listing to show up at the top of the same page it would normally show up in search results

Featured First ($24.95)
Upgrade your listing for an opportunity to show up at the top of the first page of search results
Message Add pictures to make your items more successful and to take advantage of features like Gallery Picture, Gallery Plus, and Featured First.

Home Page Featured ($59.95)

Thanks in advance for you help! -Pat

Note 1: Yes I did post this on the eBay board but do not expect much good advice from them b/c of one guy over there (not Bill)
Note 2: This is not mean to "spam" people into checking out my auction, I will be doing plenty of that on the B/S/T all week with free giveaways each day image
Note 3: I think this is relavent to this forum because your responses will not just help me, but also perhaps be instructive to other folks who sell over there.

I would not pay extra for any of ebay's bell and whistles...

If the auction is full of "good stuff" - it will get the attention it deserves...

If you plan on spamming boards...again it will get attention...hopefully by means of bids...

no reason to give ebay more money

use you html skills (they should be free)... good luck

I've never used any of them. If a buyer is looking for your item, they will find it.

Although I suppose the Ebay Share Holders would like you to use them all.

I've sold 1 Baseball 3X5 Autograph lot 4 years ago for over $1200. I guess the extras were not needed.

  • Completely agree with the others. No need to give them anymore of your money. Smart buyers know what
they are looking for and will find your auction if they are looking to buy. Good Luck

You didn't mention it but the only one worth springing for is the reserve price feature. That way when it only reaches $250 you'll feel like you just made $1000.

Thanks so far, that is the direction I'm leaning, but will still listen to other opinions.

Also, not sure what you mean by this:

When you listed all the options you did not mention the "reserve price" option on ebay.

If the item only sell for $250 and you wanted $1000, no reserve price the Buyer bought it for $250.

Ok gotcha. I HATE reserve prices as a buyer and never bid on an auction with one because usually the seller has it so high that it's a waste of time.

Why doesn't he/she just start it at that price or have a BIN price, etc? In short, not down the reserve price and will not be using it for this one!

Why are cards from 1950 to 1969 being listed in the same lot?

It sounds to me like you're leaving money on the table by mixing too many things together, thus cutting down on the number of buyers interested in everything you're offering.
