When the coin market really starts to explode, in 2-3 years

Those folks who were able to assemble nice

coins at reasonable prices are going to be very,

very happy indeed.

I agree fully with the OP's assessment.

I'm pretty sure that this statement was also made 2-3 years ago.....and also 2-3 years before that......

    Explode or implode?

That is not true. I was pessimistic

from 2006 till the end of 2009. But

starting in 2010, I am optimistic. Stop

looking up my old predictions. You

know I am not responsible for what I say.

Bear, I didn't necessarily mean that YOU made the same statement a few years ago....I just meant that usually SOMEBODY makes this statement every year (except perhaps in 1989 when the market DID explode before its long decline/long term adjustment).

I think the coin market already exploded. I think it will adjust for awhile, like most other markets are doing right now.

So what ever happened to the price explosion we expected from 2004-2009 on the order of a 1979-1980 or 1989-1990 blow off top? Or was that pending "MacGruber" explosion overidden by an implosion?

I don't know about 2-3 years, but my theory is that aging boomers will slow down, drop some of their more physical activities and look for pursuits more cerebral, coin collecting being one of them! Do I think it will happen? Probably not.

    I predict that the value

    of colored balloons

    is going to go soaring.

    That should make you

    a very wealthy Bear.

    On the downside,

    I also expect the

    price of Jelly Donuts

    to explode as well -

    a very sticky situation, indeed.

Gee, just when I turn positive, every one else

turns negetive. I always seem to be out of sync.

I guess that is what happens when you are a

    fuzzy little bear.image

  • a lot of aging boomers have had their nesteggs ravaged over the last few years.

or, like me, have simply dissipated them.

I did not know the term “Long Jelly Roll” was used on Wall Street?

What Does “Long Jelly Roll” Mean?

An option strategy that aims to profit from a time value spread through the sale and purchase of two call and two put options, each with different expiration dates.

Maybe coins are going through a Jelly Roll?

My daughter, whose three-and-a-half, was sitting on my lap looking at this thread with me. She likes the little colored balloons! She proclaimed, "Daddy, I like little balloons." Actually she said it about a dozen times. I think she was hinting it's time to stop at the grocery store tonight and get a helium balloon.

    Thanks Bear!

When that happens I'll retire only this time for good.

In the meantime, "Wiscane" is that Vette for sale? I'm in the market image

As the PM market goes up so will the coins made from them. I would expect to see good quality good and silver to do well over the next 10 years
