His two most recently ended auctions:

10 oz Pan Am silver bars. $9.95 plus $160 shipping

    Krugerrands. $79 plus $1000 shipping.

Nobody puts a gun to your head and makes you sell on eBay. For all its warts, eBay offers a very clean, easy transaction with unlimited buyers ready to pay market price. You don't want to pay the fees you've agreed to as an eBay member, don't sell on eBay.

Avoiding fees like that is theft.

it is a sign to me that ebay fees are so high now days that selling most
items fair and square with narrow margins is a recipe for a loss.

buy 10 ounces of silver for 140. sell 10 ounces of silver at 160. break even
once ebay and paypal are done with you. Yet silver has gone up two dollars
per ounce. terrible way to try to make money or to sell silver with such low
    premiums.

FC .. it's apparent that this seller is avoiding his fees. BTW you are exaggerating the eBay fees
    on a $160 sale via regular auction style.....Listing Fee: $.15 .... FVF.......$6.91 Total eBay fees: $7.06......PayPal Fees $4.94...Total eBay & PayPal fees: $12

The listing being discussed isn't a regular auction listing- it's fixed price. And the fees for that on a $160 sale would be $12.95 for eBay and $4.94 for PayPal (assuming free shipping- otherwise the PayPal fee would be higher) for a total of $17.89, which would be in the ballpark for fc's "buy 10 ounces of silver for 140. sell 10 ounces of silver at 160. break even once ebay and paypal are done with you" comment.

To bad I don't live next door to the guy... I'd buy them and save him the shipping fees... Would that work?

Should buy them and ask for combined shipping. Reported

I sent the seller an email telling him I reported him for fee avoidance and to play by the rules like the rest of us. Here is the response I received:
"Thanks for the response and very sorry you were so offended. I
selling my gold and silver for a surgery for my little girl. Hope you
can bare with my plight for as much cash as possible. Leon "

eBay should have a different fee structure for bullion. Absent that, they are gouging.

    surgery for my little girl

Thats a laugh, why doesnt he just be honest and say he want to avoid the ever increasing ripoff fees that Ebay has screwed us with ever since we, the buyers/sellers have made the company a success.

BTW your "play by the rules" is a laugh. He is playing by the rules, he just found a loophole that can save him a few bucks, if they allow it.

He is clearly violating the excessive shipping "rule" &/or the fee circumvention "rule".

I would tell him I live in his town and ask him if I could pick up the item and skip the shipping.

Likewise ... I guess the eBay Paid "coin police" was part of their downsizing. BTW the shipping & handling fee has been reduced to $920.00 same BIN $39.00

screw ebay's fees. It's bad enough that they drain any profit off of excessive fees then they double slam you by forcing sellers to accept payal.
