Um

Is it coincidence that Rhodium, Platinum & Palladium all end with um? Noticed it last night while watching "how its made", They were producing designer Pens and they coated them in one of these 3 precious metals, Gold also. I had no clue they used Rhodium.
Its all relative

It's a hold over from Latin. It's just a general noun suffix: Gymnasium, auditorium. The latin words for gold and silver are aurum and argentum. Note also uranium, plutonium, etc.
We are like children who look at print and see a serpent in the last letter but one, and a sword in the last.

I believe they all belong to a single group as well, the PMGs, or platinum metals group. And no, its not some new rock band.image
