Even though Hong Man Choi isn't on top of his game, he will literally annihilate Canseco!

I will be shocked if Jose even gets close enough to land a punch with Choi having such a huge reach advantage!

Kyle Maynard vs Canseco would be a fair fight, and I'd take Maynard in 3.

I hope Dana White/UFC never goes this "circus" route.

Hey Canseco.... here's one way to beat Choi ... Choi vs Fedor!

Choi should have tried to break that armbar by dropping Fedor on his head. if you can't take pain, get out of MMA.

"Should have tried to break that armbar" ..... are you kidding me? He was fighting "Fedor"! We're talking about Fedor Emelianenko, "The Last Emperor", the best in the world with a Win-Loss-Draw Record of 30 - 1 - 0 & 1 NC. 7 Wins by KO; 16 Submissions (53.33 %); and 7 Decisions!

The only way Choi could have beaten Fedor that night would be if Fedor had been a no-show image

Perry, I totally agree with your LOL comment!

Canseco will face Choi at Dream 9, a WEC MMA event, in Tokyo, Japan on May 26, 2009.

"Against Choi, Canseco will have his hands full: Choi is far from a great MMA fighter, but he's a skilled professional kickboxer who will have a huge size advantage over Canseco. If Canseco can't beat Danny Bonaduce, let's just hope he doesn't get seriously hurt against Hong Man Choi."

Poppa - look at Choi's position at the time. He's basically standing with Fedor hanging off him.
Will Fedor be able to keep the armbar if he gets slammed down on the back of his head? I don't know. Does Choi have to at least try? Yes, if he's a serious MMA fighter and not a freak show.

Choi gets his arm broken if he doesnt tap.. his arm is no match for a 240lb man, much less fedor.. its just how armbars work.

once its locked in and Fedor arches to push his hips out, that arm will snap like a twig.

    true..

it can be done, but Choi wasnt "basically standing", his feet werent even under him, he was on his knees in Fedors guard..

Rampage slammed out of a triangle one time (it wasnt even locked in), but still a triangle choke is a lot different than an arm, which can break.. the worst he wouldve experienced from a triangle is a loss of blood to the head, and he wouldve woke back up soon afterwards.. however, a broke arm = several months on the sidelines..

Rampage escaped an armbar by Sakuraba one time because he was able to grab his fist before it was locked on, and keep his feet under him to stand up.. but he still ended up losing the fight..

someone can slam out of an armbar maybe once in a few hundred times, but usually it just makes things worse.. plus, there are things you can do to make sure the person cant slam you..

even trying to slam out of a triangle usually just makes it tighter..

Yeah, Rampage's was only successful because his follow-through was a big-time headbutt to the jaw of Arona, which is what actually KO'ed him.

    Hi Nick,

I have to agree with Perry about Choi getting his arm broken by Fedor if he doesn't tap.

Fedor's a master in the octagon. Time after time, we've all witnessed how easily Fedor escapes submissions.... only to turn around and win by a sub of his own.

Remember, Fedor's only loss was due to a stoppage because of a cut. Look at his accomplishments below to see how many fights he ended in the 1st round!

The only thing that's going to stop Fedor is AGE ... eventually! For now, he's the alpha-male of his sport.

    Fedor's Professional record breakdown

They've got Choi listed at 7'2", but at one fight he was announced as being 7'4" which seems a bit more realistic to me.

The fight went 1:15 which is longer than I expected.

I'll give Canseco props for trying, but I hope he realizes that MMA is NOT the WWE!

    Hi Matt,

The fight was part of DREAM's Super Hulk Tournament. The Canseco-Choi fight was exactly the kind of matchup that would never be approved in the U.S. by any commission.

Nevada nearly denied a license recently to 45-year-old Mark Coleman to fight at UFC 100. Coleman, who has 24 pro fights under his belt and was an NCAA wrestling champ, tired badly in his last fight at UFC 93.

The fighters' safety is paramount in MMA where knees, kicks, elbows, punches, jiu-jitsu and wrestling are all fair game.

It's all about Canseco's safety! It would make no sense to train a 44 year old guy who has no future in the sport.

I like Canseco, but I'd hate to see him wind up paralyzed or mamed for the rest of his life just because he has a dream.

Jose should stick to Celebrity Boxing ... where incidentally, he couldn't even beat Danny Bonaduce (the partridge family) and Canseco had a 70 pound weight advantage over Bonaduce.
