14k scrap gold

Hello,

Not an avid visitor to this board but have approx. 2oz or so in 14k scrap gold jewelry and was looking for some guidance on how best to sell it. What's a fair price per pennyweight to expect when gold is at say $900 oz?? Any online dealers that are reputable??

Thanks in advance to all replies,
Roger

Your 2 oz of 14kt contains about 1.17 oz of pure gold, give or take depending on non-gold solder. You can expect to get about 80% of the value from any local HONEST jewelry, coin, or pawn shop. You should be able to do slightly better if sent directly to a refiner that has no minimum order (perhaps as much as 90% of the value). So for a quick sale locally, I would say that $842 is close to a fair price to expect based on a $900 spot.

I like to use midwest refineries, they pay the most I have found at 95%

Surprisingly I find that ebay will fetch close to the current melt value. I searched a while ago for scrap precious metals to see what I could find and I consistently found the stuff selling for about their melt value, so I decided that just buying the bullion coins or bars would be better.
