Just starting out and looking for a good detector for a beginner. Willing to drive to pickup within 100 miles of Fargo, ND. Let me know what you have and how much you want for it.
Thanks,

or a garrett ace 250.
i own both and they are very fun to use and quite powerful for the
price.
this is very common advice, btw.
the garrett is the cheaper price wise of the two companies and
do not let that fool you. it is good.
the whites on the other hand is a well known brand and you cannot
go wrong with it.
250-550 is what you are looking to spend depending on your choice.
<< <i>Speaking of which, those of you who have seen me around the past 3-4 years know that I loved my dearly departed Bounty Hunter. Not only was it extremely light weight, but it was so easy to operate! So here's my question, do you think the Ace 250 will suit my needs? -Mary >>
i do not know enough about the bounty hunter to comment or compare. what i do know is that the ace 250 is a solid, fun, easy to
use device that has enough bells and whistles to keep you interested
in it for quite some time. if you use it every week or so for a few years
you might then consider upgrading. If not pass it on to someone
who will use it in the family. for 250 it is a good buy. maybe the best
in that price range.

<< <i>Mary, I think you would be happy with the Garrett Ace 250. If you deal with E-Bay you might find a good deal also.

heck of a deal there for that auction when you consider the headphones
were worth another 20 bucks at the very least.
280 dollars worth of gear for 150ish.
