That's too bad that happened. I wouldn't blame them as almost every place ships single cards out that way, but some sellers like to sandwhich the holder in cardboard too. I know its a bummer but I believe they will take care of you. In the past and recently I always buy 3 to 4 cards from them and they come packaged in a small box with popcorn packing.

Just to play devils advocate, are you sure you didn't damage the card yourself when you ripped open the bubble mailer?

    Are you serious?

I am sure they will care of you even though I don't think they did anything wrong. Sending a graded card in a padded envelope is the ordinary standard of care in the industry. Damage like this is rare but it can happen of course. That happened to me one time when I was selling cards and I just refunded the guy the money.

What Lee? You don't think it's possible he ripped the slab?

I say this, because I did it myself once - I used too much force to rip open a package that was tightly sealed, and I cracked the holder

    No you didn't.

    Much better story.

p.s. if I recall correctly, this was a home game at Lambeau back in 2007 and I believe the wind chills were subzero that day.

    I agree, no you didn't.

It obviously got cracked in transit. The bubble mailer was way too big to ship one card like that. I stick with 4x7 bubble mailers, and never had a problem. When I ship using the 6x9 mailers, I turn the card sideways and fold them to make it 6x4.5 and double thick. That's what 4SC should do.

I have also bought a TON of cards from 4SC, and never had a slab crack. They should be more than willing to take care of you.

This is what I do as well. I also wrap an extra layer of bubble wrap around the card before putting it in the bubble mailer. It's extra protection and it makes the mailer thick enough to be manually processed. It's my understanding that damages like this occur when bubble mailers are thin enough to go through the machine for processing.

I once gave a "good job" tap on my coworkers shoulder and his head tore off and fell on the floor. It was a sad day at work but that stuff happens.

  • Wow, that sucks. i hope they can replace it or at least give you your money back
  • 4 Sharp Corners I believe are self insured and I am sure they will take care of it. That stinks about the card though.
  • I'm sorry this happened to you.

thanks for the responses. i didnt mean to imply that 4sharp caused this. though i have some nice arms i doubt that i caused the damage. it was strange as the package really doesnt show much wear for that to have happened.

i will call them and see what they can do. i just want hear that others have been able to work things out with them in the past.

I have had an up and down relationship with 4SC, now 4SC2 for some odd reason.

They sent me an extra card by accident, I found out who the card was to go to through ebay and forwared the card to the intended recipent. I told 4SC what happened and what I did and they really didnt care much and ended up blocking me from buying, no idea why and never got a response.

    But.....

For $4 shipping they do use some flimsey bubble mailers.
