opinions on Academy silver?

Their 10- and 100-ounce bars look great. Maybe the nicest looking silver bars out there right now. My only concern -- and it's not a great concern -- is Academy is a lesser-known make that doesn't seem to have a history in the industry.

  • Yeah, the design isn't that great. There are much nicer bars out there. It's okay for you to like the design, I kind of like the design myself, but I wouldn't say it's the best.

I actually like the design of the bars. Seems like I saw some with a similar stackable feature not too long ago.

But the motto bothers me and I wouldn't own it specifically for that reason. Their choice, their bar, their right. But count me out as a customer.

  • A-mark USVI also has Stackable bars in 1, 10, 50 & 100 oz although they are not readily available everywhere.

Interesting. I thought I'd seen smaller a-marks with that feature. I actually think it would come in handy with smaller bars, but I'd rather have my 10 and 100 oz bars in plastic bags/boxes than intentionally designed to clang together. Guess that's just the coin collector in me.

I like two things about the Academy bars. The stackability and the In God We Trust Logo, both cool things.

Stackability isn't rare anymore. Academy, Harmony, Apmex and old Amark all utilize a stackable design.

I really like the looks of the Acadamy bars, and the "In God We Trust" logo is an extra added plus. And I find stacking these bars is very image

Shame Johnson Matthey doesn't make stackers. I'd be all over those like stink on a turd.

I like the Academy bars. They seem to sell fine on ebay. The Academy corperation or refineries have been around for awhile now and what I've heard recently started to get into producing bars. Don't own any 100 oz but do have the 10 oz extruded stackable type and the old poured loaf style. Also Apmex has the exact same type bar but has their logo on them. They are fun to stack. image

I like them just fine. The company has been around quite a long time as a mdeical/dental supplier from what I've read and based out of New Mexico.
I had a ten ounce bar, and just purchased a 100oz bar a few weeks ago.
