Someone mentioned Chuck Yeager as being in the not-so-wonderful class along with Neil Armstrong. I had the pleasure of meeting both of these gentlemen while in the Air Force. I ran into Gen Yeager at the BX at Beale AFB in Marysville, CA in 1989. I asked him for an autograph and realized I had nothing. I went to the paper section and got a pack of index cards while he waited for me. Then he signed one for me and one for my dad. I have nothing bad to say about Gen Yeager at all. A SUPER nice guy!!!
Neil Armstrong toured a jet that I was working on. There wasn't really an opportunity to ask for an autograph, as I was working with tools at the time. But, Mr Armstrong was gracious and shook my hand and was a kind gentleman. If he chooses not to sign autographs, then so be it. Heck, I had a minor league hitting coach turn me down for an autograph at a game last week. His right to do so. Whatever. I just can't rate someone's decency on whether he/she signs autographs or not.
Far be it for me to judge anyone as a rick with a P, but in order for one to make such an assessment there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration. Just because someone doesn't sign autographs, does that make them a rick with a P? It's certainly understandable if a guy doesn't want people profiting off his name, so surely this factor alone does not make them a rick with a P. In the barber example, I'm sure Neil doesn't want people thinking he's going around selling his hair for profit so I don't think that makes him a rick with a P. I think it's fairly irresponsible to go around calling someone a rick with a P if all they're doing is trying to protect their good name.

Mike (or anyone else) - if you want to write these guys for TTM purposes, where do you do so?

I have used the following link for TTM autos. Link
Most of the guys are pretty fast in the turnaround. I received both Charlie Duke and Edgar Mitchell's autos in less than a week. I have also used NovaSpace to finish off some of the autos for the guys that don't sign TTM. They were very easy to deal with and fast in the shipping.
Machodoc - Do you have any hints to get David Scott's book signed, other than a show? I have his auto dropped into the book, but I'd like the actual book signed. I heard that he doesn't do TTM regularly.
Edited to add: the commission that my wife served on had a less than friendly interaction with him when all they wanted was for him to be part of a celebration honoring the 200 greatest Ohioans in Ohio history. Had nothing to do with autographs, but he was apparently shopping in the jerkstore at the time. Later, the incident was related to John Glenn, who graciously took part, to which he replied by just shaking his head and saying, "that's Neil."
So yeah, he's a great American and a legend but the guy is just plain bizarre IMO. And regardless of what I think about him, he's perfectly entitled to be that way.

But I have another question. If Neil is not a rick with a P, could he be a rick without the R? Eh???? Eh????? Think about it.
