What feedback would you leave?

Hi,

Just wondering what type of feedback you would leave in this situation.

I purchased a jersey from a seller on eBay as a wedding gift for a friend. I paid immediately after the auction, and he shipped it the next day. However, the day after, he told me he sent the wrong jersey and that I could either keep that one or send it back and he's send the correct item. I told him I wanted the correct item, and he sent that, and I sent the other jersey back. When I shipped back to him, I had asked for a refund of the cost that it cost me to ship back ($8.25 - priority mail + delivery confirmation) but he never responded.

What would you do at this point? He already had left me positive feedback immediately after payment. He doesn't deserve negative feedback, but I am slightly annoyed that I ended up having to pay more for his mistake. I was thinking of leaving positive feedback, but then making a comment about making me have to pay for shipping the seller's error back to him.

Thanks.

    I might email him:

It was a very NEGATIVE experience having to pay $8.25
for your mailing mistake. Please refund my $8.25 payment
    via PayPal. Thank you.

  • Thanks - that's clever...I'll try that approach if he doesn't reply to my latest e-mail in the next 24 hours.

since you have his email address - just send him a 'request for payment' via paypal for the shipping expense. that makes it very easy for him to pay your invoice

    Hi Warren,

If it's only been a couple of days or so, I'd give the seller a chance to do what is right.

He sent positive feedback right after receiving your payment and then had the courtesy to alert you about his error.

Just by doing those two things, it tells me that he's probably a stand-up guy.

I certainly wouldn't hesitate to refund your requested amount, if for no other reason than to avoid a possible negative.

Hope everything works out for you,

Maybe he's waiting til he recieves the returned shirt.
  • I asked him for my shipping cost back, and he didn't respond. Now it seems that he has been NARUed for some weird reason. How would I go about getting my $8.25 - file a claim via Paypal for that amount? The rest of the transaction was smooth.

    Looks like a lost cause.

You might try emailing him with a PayPal invoice,
but if he's NARUd for good he will not pay.

If he cared about his account, he likely would have
paid the first time you asked him to.

I think you cannot leave FB until EBAY turns his
    account back on.

    ........................

Since EBAY now - again - allows buyers to remove NEGs,
it is prolly best, in the future, to just NEG a seller such
as this one and THEN negotiate for the return of anykind
    of shipping overcharge.

always looking for 1969 graded basketball
  • Storm - you are correct - no feedback while his account is in NARU state. Well I still got a good deal on the jersey even with the extra $8 and my friend will like it as a wedding gift.

Next time if ever happening again, you could insist he send a UPS "call tag" whereby UPS picks it up or you can drop it off at a UPS store at no charge because he prepaid for the return.

When he is un-NARU, I'd neg him then.
