Milk spots on ASEs????

Did I read something in here about PCGS being able to remove milk spots from PROOF ASEs? If I'm remembering correctly it said they couldn't do anything for biz strike coins, but could fix proof coins.

PS

Can they do anything with REV PROOF coins?

My certified coins are from the first release from the mint. and all three rev proof coins have spots I don't like the look of.
(Old man) Look I had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, “That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah”.

(Priest) BLASPHEMY he said it again, did you hear him?

I believe what you are referring to is haze on proofs. There is no remedy for true milk spots. there have been numerous threads on the topic. Do a search and I'm sure you will find your answer. image

Milk spots, can be prevented, according to some authoritative posts here, but dipping right after receipt. Cheers, RickO

I believe that the OP is correct that spotted proof coins can be curated easier than the uncircs tho neither is a certainty.

Are you saying, if I send them back to PCGS they will try to fix them?
And if they can't they send it back unslabed?

Does HASE start as spots and grow to the genral overall hase? Or NOT?

    PS

    Just for information:
It seems strange to me that my 3 sets I had slabbed turned spoty and my 3 omp sets haven't. The slabbed coins are from the first release from the mint. The other 3 sets are from a later release. I think Dec. 06.

    No they are not.

If PCGS cannot correct the problem then the coin(s) get downgraded because of the spotting.

PCGS will email an offer to the submitter as follows:

They will offer to buy the coin back from you for X amount of dollars

    or

Return the coin to you in a lower graded slab plus the difference in value from what it had been to what it is now.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
