Wow. I finally bought a coin that no one hates. I usually buy, then cringe while waiting for your reviews. Paid $550. If it slabs XF45 I did good. If its XF40 I broke even.
You have definitely improved the quality of your coin purchases. And stop cringing when you post coins here - most of the people are giving objective, educated opinions, albeit they sound harsh at times....Ok, some of them are harsh....and I still cringe occasionally myself when I post coins

No I appreciate it. Thats how I learn to get better coins. I just cringe because I am worried that I might have screwed up. But, I appreciate very much what you all have told me and it has helped me a ton. Thats why I post these pics, I want to know as much as I can.
<< <i>Nice photos. I say yes, it will slab. XF45. I like it! Lance. >>

Please don't tell us you bought it from an eBay seller in China.

It has those halos around the stars that might indicate an old cleaning. However, unless there are a bunch of hairlines under the patina, I'd say you did really well. I like the way it looks.

Looks a solid VF35 to XF40. I see this because it has many dings and no doubt in my mind it hasnt been cleaned. A light cleaning is very evident on the OBV between the bands of the liberty shield and stars. The REV most evident in the retoning that is occuring in various areas. Overall I think a good find at the right price.
I suspect the coin's been cleaned (like 99%+ of the seated dollars I see), but the big three TPGS would deem it market acceptable. I'd estimate the grade at VF 35 or XF 40.

I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.
can't tell luster from scan
older coins like that have tendency to being cleaned and counterfeited
unless I had alot of experience, I would be VERY reluctant to buy a $400 coin raw or in any slab other than top-tier grading companies
because I have been burned on my similar purchases in the past

<< <i>Pretty close to XF 40 I would say. Here's a recent purchase from a board member which is in a PCGS 40 slab that is very similar:
That's a super nice coin, and looks non molested.
