Neat experience at a local shop today

So a dealer who has had an office near my parents for years, mostly buying from the public and wholesaling it out, has opened a storefront.
I've always loved going to his office since one never knows what kind of interesting things he'll have, most of it is quite buyable, and he does quirky things like give $10 silver certificates as change when he can't find a regular ten.
So today I went in to see what was up in his new shop. I found a nice undesignated PL Morgan in an old PCGS slab and -- my first ever -- Fugio cent, a low grade coin for sure but still readable, and he owed me five bucks change. His helper guy (Johnny) was working with me, and he went to the dealer (John -- I know, confusing) to get five bucks, and John says "give him some of those dollar coins." I figure I'm going to get some president dollars. OK, big deal. But he comes over with a $100 canvas mint bag of SBA dollars and counts me out five. "We checked these, but there weren't any wide-rim ones," he remarks. I asked if I might give them a once-over. Johnny says sure, fine, whatever, while John goes outside for a smoke. So I dig through the bag and quickly see why there are no wide-rim coins: it's a 79-D bag. But they sure are nice coins ... so I pick out a pile of another twenty, perhaps 10 of them 65's, the other ten 64's with nice color, and John walks back in. "What the hell is he doing?" he asks the helper. "While you were out he's been cherrypicking your bag," Johnny replies. "What the hell for?" he asks me. "The best coins," I sheepishly reply. "I've got twenty of them ... it's OK, I'll pay over face ... like a buck ten a coin ... " laughing as I say this, of course. "It's fine," he replies, "they're a buck each."
So I've got this great handpicked roll of excellent unc 79-D's! Who'da thunk?
