Hi everyone, I got my vending box a couple of days ago. I still don't know if I'm going to open it or not. Dosen't really have anything to do with that '86 Basketball rip and I don't need all the stars and rookies although they would be nice to get. I am currently trying to upgrade my '77 FB set to PSA 9 or better. I have every card in my set scanned. So you have something to compare with the cards you pull. Below is a link to my set and a list of the cards I need to upgrade. If you get any of these cards and think they have a great shot at a PSA 9 I will buy them from you or if you submit them at least you know I'll be bidding on them or interested in buying them. Good luck, Tom

<< <i>So how many Largents and OJs and Bradshaws are you supposed to get per vending case? >>
It is a 528 card set, vending boxes are 500 cards...so about 23 of every card.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
I don't get the joke. Maybe I should have rephrased the question:
I haven't busted a case since 1977 when I was 9 years old and bought as many wax cases as my potential college fund could afford. If I remember correctly, you'd get about 5 Darold Knowles or other worthless card for every Nolan Ryan or Reggie Jackson. Making the assumption that football cards are distributed roughly in the ratio that I experienced 30 years ago busting 77 Topps baseball cases, and ignoring condition and centering issues for the time being, what is the total number of HOF/All Star cards that I should be expecting from this 500 card vending case that I just purchased? Or to put it a different way, should I be happy with 5, 10, 15, 20, etc?

I apologize for any confusion. >>
I find the original answer to be correct.
Its' 500/528 * 24 or roughly 22.72 (rounded to 23) of any one card in any one case, or you have a 94.6% chance of finding any particular card in any box ...
Edit: You are only buying a box, so the box itself contains the 500 cards. A case contains 24 boxes ... You should be happy with 1 of each.
I have received the box, opened it, and will send 12 cards to PSA for grading (as part of my Collector's Club Submission). No comments (good or bad) otherwise until I get the grades back from PSA.

Vending boxes finally arrived. I didn't realize they came sealed out of a case (with shrink wrap). I busted one open. Cards are in great shape w a lot of razor corners and sharp edges, though centering is downright awful on most of them. Very few I'm going to be able to submit. A number of dupes as well. Will probably either hold onto the other for a while or dump it on eBay. I think I got my fill of busting unopened for a while. I have to admit is was kinda fun. I'm including only the best cards in the scans.
Thanks. I do have that sticker on top of the shrink wrap. These boxes and their contents have clearly never been touched. I guess that shrink wrap might help instill confidence that the box has never been opened if I decide to resell. At least as much confidence as being holdered by GAI LOL.
I went back through the cards and realized how crazy some of these pictures really are. I've come up with my own descriptors for the 9 goofiest cards I could find in my vending box. Add your own as you wish. I got a good chuckle with some of these
#1-9 (top to bottom; left to right)
1. Player most often confused with OJ 2. Studliest name for a punter....EVER 3. Worst helmet airbrush job...and possible the biggest head for a CB EVER! 4. I didn't know Bigfoot was Center for the Cardinals in the 70s 5. Best head of hair short of Blago 6. Worst comb-over. Enough said 7. I love the chops...but something about the rest of the picture was kinda funny. I dunno 8. Love the 70s team hats. This one looks knitted by Mom. 9. Guess which hand I'm holding a quarter. Seriously, he looks like he's ready to try out for the cheerleading team.
<< <i>Yeah, the Carson is super nice. The hope would be a 9, though top to bottom centering isn't great. That's the only flaw on the card that I see. >>
Don't think more then an 8 on the Carson too far OC..

It would be nice to see someone pull a Largent that actually has a left border. I was second guessing myself not participating in this break, but glad I passed now.

Not too much to scan in this box. All of the key cards were OC.
Got lots of dupes, and no Payton / Bradshaw.
Still had lots of fun opening the box though. I've got 15-20 commons I may send in for grading
and the 1 Superbowl card has a chance at a 9 or a 10.
Good luck to everyone else on their boxes. Rob

I will put together a very nice raw set with this box and what I already have thats not
gradeable.
I'm hoping to see some nice Largents, Carsons, etc.. from the rest of you guys !!
The top to bottom centering may hold it back, I would be happy with a 9
Talk about bad luck in the draft, the Bengals have had lots of it over the years.

Who the heck are you?
Among stars pulled:
2 Payton
0 Largent
2 Griese
1 Staubach
0 Bradshaw
2 Csonka
2 Carson
1 Selmon
1 Haynes
2 Webster
These four are probably the nicest of all the stars/semi stars
Other stars:
Still others...

I love the color and design, but centering is a huge challenge.
