PCGS fee to return coin boxes?

How much does PCGS charge for returning boxes for the coins? Also how do you fill out the form?

  • i think if it is for first strike they automatically send it back. if it is not for first strike then remove the coin from mint packaging before submitting. anybody correct me if i`m wrong.

What form? A regular submission form?

The PCGS Blue Boxes are provided with your submission at no charge at the discretion of PCGS.

Generally, If you have a submission of 8 coins or more (maybe less?) they will return them in a box.

You can also buy extra boxes if you wish. I forget the price but they always put an ad in the package
when I get my coins back. Many websites also have them listed for around $7 or $8 bucks.

  • Well I believe they charge you to send it back. I've had the packaging returned before but dont remember how or how much they charge. Yes for first Strike., If my coin comes while im gone on vacation and I need to send them sealed I'd like the packaging back.

Correct. It's included in the $14 extra they charge for the service.

i was told the fee was $2.00 and just indicate in large bold letters on unused lines of the submission form as well as on the outside of the mint wrapper (box), but you only have to send the packaging if you submit delayed first strike ( mint sealed dated postage box)

If you are refering to the "Mint" OGP boxes...add $2 to have them returned...

it was probably front page when they announced price change for first strike. it is most likely still there but buried under other more recent info.

you are correct, included in the $14.00 see here

First Strike® designation is available on qualifying coins for an additional $14 per coin. This fee covers the cost of the special First Strike insert and return of mint packaging if applicable. To qualify for First Strike, coins must be sent to PCGS or sent in a mint-sealed package postmarked within 30 days of the original release date. Cut off dates to qualify are below. For coins sent to PCGS prior to the cut off, customers are encouraged to submit coins in their acrylic capsules only. Coins submitted for First Strike should be submitted on separate submission forms from non-First Strike coins with separate return shipping
