thanks everyone. me and friend were trying to find a location of an 1880's chinatown dump. we found that it was covered up pretty good. this creek, like many others is loaded with the tents of homeless. sometimes you need to take a journey into unfamiliar territory. occationally you might stumble into something good. not this time though. the rain we've been getting should expose some old trash dumps in the creeks.
Was it an active homeless camp? I saw a couple of those in San Francisco. I was too nervous about going down in there-- "Hey, never mind me, I'm just gonna take my $700 detector and see if there's any gold or silver around your little tent here..."

i work for Caltrain and i see homeless and they're camps regularly. most of them are very nice. still, i would'nt detect in those spots by myself. creeks, rivers amd waterways have always been dumping grounds and refuge for some. many nice bottles and other items have been and still are recovered from them.
