Would you send a $400 card w/o DC?
I got this card in the mail today. It was wrapped in a piece of paper with "THANKS" written on it, and inserted into a bubble mailer. No insurance, no delivery confirmation. I paid via paypal. I guess the seller didn't think he needed to protect himself from scammers. Fortunatly, I'm not a scammer, but if I was, he'd be out $400 and the card.

Seller will get hit eventually. Guess he'll have to learn
the hard way.
<< <i>I always use DC, it costs like 45 cents and is well worth it. >>
DC won't protect a seller on a $400 item, though. Signature Confirmation is the only way to go.
Perhaps the seller saw your feedback and was comfortable with your reputation.
<< <i>you might want to drop the seller a little note to let him know of the possible consequences of not doing that in the future. I would >>

Now there's one ya don't hear every day. And you can take that to the bank.

A fool and his money are soon parted!
BTW, nice card!

Good idea, I'll do that.
It'll be the 2nd email I've sent out today to critique a seller's shipping methods. I got a 1962 Topps common in a PSA 7.5 slab today that the seller taped to a piece of cardboard. Taped, as in put a big strip of packing tape directly on the surface of the slab (top to bottom) and around to the back of a piece of cardboard. I spent 30 min scrubbing the slab surface with alcohol and cotton to get the tape goo off. Grr…

Thanks, I like it too. I think I got a pretty good deal on it too, as it's a pretty nice looking 6.

consider the package "a gift" from PayPal.

I would...
to the guy who sent it.
Trust is not always a bad thing. It can be rewarding when you trust the right people.
ps- I'll bet he sent it that way because of the OP's feedback. I've done the same thing. Ive also sent cash to seller's that have great feedback and who I've dealt with before. There are good people out there and it's a pleasure doing business with them.

The saying makes sense. But I always though it odd that the first part referred to a monetary sum while the second part referred to a measurement of weight, e.g., perhaps it should be "penny wise, dollar foolish" or "gram wise, pound foolish."

British Pound = approx $1.42 US
A penny is a small amount of money and a pound is a larger amount. "Penny-wise, pound-foolish" is to be cautious (wise) with small amounts of money but wasteful (foolish) with larger amounts. Example: "We've worked so hard to save money that if we took a vacation now it would be penny-wise, pound-foolish." People sometimes worry about spending small amounts of money; then they carelessly spend much larger amounts. Example: "He spends very little on food during the week, then blows all his money drinking on the weekends. He really is penny-wise, pound-foolish."
The figurative image goes way back; in 'The Historie of Foure-footed Beastes' (1607) Edward Topsell wrote: 'If by covetousnesse or negligence, one withdraw from them their ordinary foode, he shall be penny wise, and pound foolish.'"

Its an English saying. Pennys' and pounds' are both monetary sums there.
Actually in the US there's no such thing as a penny for a monetary unit. Its the cent.
But for some reason we adopted the English term "Penny" but didn't adopt "Pound" or any of there other monetary terms.
So the US version should be
Cent wise, dollar foolish.
Very interesting. Thanks for the education.
Very truly yours,

No creases, no wrinkles, no surface issues, no stains, centering is 7ish. There's some print dots along the upper portion of the card, as is obvious in the scan, but not bad enough for a qualifier. The worst part of the card is the ding in the upper left corner.
You disagree with the grade?

No.
I think it's prolly graded about right.
It does lack eye-appeal TO ME, but certainly not
everybody would see it that way.
<< <i>those print dots "arn't bad enough"...what? Its the only thing I see on the card. Certainly not everyones 6's look that bad! >>
I'm the one who paid money for it... and I'm happy.

Too bad you aren't.
