This is the real reason why I'm ecstatic about my sub results:

"Colburn's Ripken Jr. Basic Set - The Number One Finest Set of All Time"

Finally, after spending almost 5 years collecting graded Ripken cards, I pass "The Man" and earn the #1 spot on the Basic Set Ripken Registry! Albeit temporary, I'm sure, it feels great to finally reach my goal. Michael Wynne has a much more impressive set than I do, since all of this cards are PSA 10, but this is a small victory for me. Mr. Wynne will surely pass me in a week or two, and I don't mind that. My goal now is to upgrade my 8s and 9s, and start working on the Basic & Collector Issues Set.

I SHOULD be at 100% complete right now, but for some reason the 1995 Studio, and the 1997 Select aren't showing up in the set. The cert numbers are good, and the cards are showing up in my inventory, but they're not letting me enter them into the set. I've had this problem before, and it's usually a glitch that Customer Service fixes after I notify them.

Anyway, I feel good!! Thank you Bill, for taking on this monster of a task!!

That would be me! This was the second time I subbed this card. The first time it came back as "recolored". Obviously they see something I'm not seeing. Here is the card:

What would be a fair estimate of a selling price of a 1983 OPC M Schmidt PSA 10 Pop 3 on Ebay?

Compare my card to these three, and see if you notice a difference. (besides the lack of slab and website watermark) lol

Too hard to tell with such a low pop card for a Hall of Famer. I'd say let it ride on ebay with no BIN or reserve (unless you're trying to sell it off ebay). I know Pop 3 Ripkens can go for $50 or more (for later cards).

I would guess about $120 if it's in the Basic set, and probably $50-$60 if it's only in the Master set.

I concur...and if anyone needs that 78 Johnny Bench PSA 9 that is a PSA 10 three times out of five, let me know. It's available.

I don't understand...almost none of those cards go into my sets.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

Is it that clean? If so, I'll take it, Mike. PM me with a price and let's see if we can work something out.

FWIW on low pop modern cards that's almost always the worst selling strategy you could possibly employ. Anyone who sells modern in this way is leaving (literally) thousands on the table every year, assuming they're dealing in quantity.

    Neil,

I just counted. I had 26 PSA 10's out of 64 cards subbed. Out of those 64, there were 11 that I felt pretty sure wouldn't make it into a 10 holder. In other words, I had almost 50% of the cards I was expecting at least a 9 that came back as 10's.

The only ones that I am PO'd about are the 81 Donruss golf. I assure you that the 6 I subbed are 10's 9 out of 10 times but of course I get the grader that hates golf.

And there would be a Grader that liked Golf.....Because???????

Or anybody else as well....I mean chasing a little white ball around on the lawn, the only real sport in that is sitting in a chair, drinking a Beer, watching some other idiot do it!!!! And then I can take that for about 5 minutes.

A real sport is Football, or Football, or maybe Football, all the rest are just exercises in how many banned substances can we get away with or play ignorant about!!!!!!

I enjoy the sports where you can drink beer at the same time, like Softball, Bowling, and Golf!

Now I'm torn, I could sell the 2 1983 OPC psa 10's on Ebay and make a little change or I could start a new set for the registery and spent a lot of change. What to do?

Looks as though David Puddy may have some competition in 83 OPC

Actually, I was wondering today how the grades broke down so thanks for posting that! And after reading that list, I got to say I am pretty impressed on how good of eyes the members have for grading on here. 235 9's or 10's? I think that's amazing. I'm sure most of the guys on here sent in stuff they thought would get a 9/10 and I am sure that some sent in stuff that they knew would NOT get that high of a grade. So if you take away those cards where people knew they would not get that high of a grade, it is a pretty high percentage of what everyone was shooting for and what they got. (If that makes sense!)

I would also like to send a huge thank you to Bill, you rock! I can't imagine what a huge undertaking this must have been for him, sorting out who's is who's, payments, addresses and such. And all to help fellow board members out. That's pretty freaking cool to do in my book. I think this puts him in a very early, very large lead for Poster of the Year. Gonna be hard for someone to overcome Bill this year! You Da' Man Bill!

This was my first sub and my cards are for my collection. No Ebay, no registery, just to my man cave. It was a tiny sub, but I wanted to see how good I could do. Overall I was thrilled with how I did.

I wanted to thank Bill again. I sent it in a pm but thought it would be better posted here. THANKS BILL.
As for everyones grades. Wow alot of you guys did good on the 9's and 10's. I don't sub much modern so it must be like me getting 7's and 8's on the 50's stuff I submitted. I also saw alot EOT. Man that sure wasn't good for those 86 fleers. Without even seeing the cards I would say they would get holdered next time thru. I know it stinks but alot of times you must bite the bullet and re-sub cards that should have been correctly graded the first time. I know my 30 cards got good grades but I can't believe the two 57's only got 7's. I thought one had an outside chance at a 9. Oh well, I am very happy.

i'll post pictures when i get them.

about what i expected the 52 and parrish rc could have been 1 grade higher i hoped but apparently not. the bogues i thought was a 10, i bought a set off of ebay about 5-6 years ago and every card i have sent in from the set has been a 10 (bird, magic, laimbeer, bouges, and i think 2 more) the check list is tough and this one is a little off center so probably no 10 there. but i have been very impressed with the amounts of 10 in that raw set from ebay.

    again
thanks for putting this together for us, its much appreciated

i'm ready for the next one.

    thanks again

This card was in my opinion at least a 9 with a shot at a 10. If it were mine, I would have to crack and resub. Of course I spent about $12 cracking and resubbing a 1978 Topps Pete Rose just to prove a point. After eBay fees, I got about $11 back.

If we have enough interest, I'd be happy to contact Joe and set it up. I don't want to burden Bill with another one so quickly.
