Should Teddy Roosevelt replace George Washington on the obverse of the new National Parks quarters?
A commentary in the January 19 Coin World suggested that Theodore Roosevelt's portrait be placed on the obverse of the new National Parks quarters for the duration of the program. At the end of the program the portrait would revert to George Washington. Does anyone have any comments about this? No one loves Teddy Roosevelt more than Longacre, but I also have an affinity toward the Father of our Country. What do you think about this idea?

that's a great idea ... after all, no single person in U.S. history did more than Teddy
to make sure we have the National Park system we have.
Of course I have an affinity to George as well, for without him and his compatriots,
would Teddy have even had the chance?
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Further, TR not only remains one of the most admired presidents, he is the only President on Mt. Rushmore who hasn’t been on a coin.
<< <i>The Theodore Roosevelt Association in Oyster Bay, NY would likely be interested this idea. The Executive Director is James Bruns – he was the driving force behind the Postal Museum. I bet he could muster quite a bit of support.

<< <i>No. Anyone who knows history would know that there would be no United States of America, except for George Washington. >>
Without Mr. Washington, who knows what America would be like today?

I love that people have turned this into a discussion between George and Theodore. This country is better for both, and wouldn't exist as it does today without the leadership of both.
Oh and when I hear people say "kool aid drinkers" it essentially means that they have drank the kool aid of using such a trite outdated phrase.
Why not: "Smokey The Bear" on the national parks reverse

HOWEVER, I look at the state quarters and already see Crater Lake and the Grand Canyon, so what are Oregon and Arizona going to do????
I think it's time for a change and believe TR is the right man.
