Nope. They will simply print every other word, but continue to publish weekly.

Based on my experience, that wouldn't change the delivery schedule at all.

How is their advertising holding up? I haven't seen a copy of either paper in about nine months.

I was going to say the same thing. I get my issues every other week now.

Mine seem to come bi-weekly as well. The front cover is also always torn to shreds

Appears to be a very popular reading material for the Postal Employees judging by the mailing & delivery dates.

Not unless they want to reduce their advertising revenue by 50% also. They are in the publishing business, if publishing more frequently means more profits, they will do it.

They started doing this a while ago to give the paper a more upscale 'antique' look.

What it may cause first is to either merge with each other or go out of business.

Going to a reduced publication frequency does little to reduce overhead (mainly personnel & benefits) while the magnitude that income is reduced is significant.
    When in doubt, don't.

Does it really matter, when was the last time you gleamed anything from the two mags?

Just about every week I find an article worth saving. Sometimes the information is new to me, or raises questions, and sometimes it's contrary to newer research. Occasionally, the ads are helpful in tracking when a coin of interest is being sold or promoted.
