Have any of the 2009 dated coins started to circulate yet?
I just got a desperate call from a friend's wife. She knows I am a coin weenie, and her daughter has a scavenger hunt to do at school. One of the items on the list is to get a 2009 circulating coin. Personally, I have not seen any yet, and she even called the bank and they did not have any either. They live in New Jersey, so maybe that has something to do with it
, but to my knowledge, this year's coins have not hit tony southwestern Connecticut either.
Has anyone seen a 2009 circulating coin yet?

............spending 2009 sacs, getting 'bug-eyed' looks, too.
<< <i>New Jersey residents are not permitted to have new coins. They must use old ones that have circulated elsewhere. This is payback for having marketed unsweetened cranberry juice. >>
Serves 'em right.
So why do they let Mainers have any coins at all?
<< <i>None yet in the Detroit area. >>

I used to live in Maine. We never had new coins other than cents. I saw my first circulating Franklin half about 1955/6 and that was a 1952.
I have been spending 2009 D dollar coins locally.
<< <i>I am circulating the 2009 Native American Sac...leaving them as a tip at dinner and at the super-market for some minor purchases.....
That is the only one out now.
Hoard the keys.

Same here RWB, Nevada is the Silver State and does not allow clad coinage. What we do get has to be smuggled in by visitors, I think.

The clerks I meet call for the manager to ask him (1) Do we take these? and (2) Where do I put them?
