Not familiar with that one, Nick. Is the white letter a toughie in NM-MT?

Funny you should ask. I was at the show in NY on the 18th and a dealer friend of mine had 4 Topps baseball sets for me to look at from 1968 to 1971. I wasn't going to buy any, but then I noticed some beat up white letters in the 1969 set, so I checked all the cards to see how many white letters were in there, and there was McCovey sitting there in a mid grade set. I looked it over and over and when I knew it had a strong chance at an 8, I bought the set. I walked over to the PSA booth with the set, and handed them the McCovey on the $14/5 day registry special, came home and upgraded over 300 commons from my inventory (and added a yellow letter McCovey) and put the set for sale on the BST board here. I figure because of the commons I added I only broke even on the set, but coming away with a 1969 Willie McCovey white letter in PSA 8 for myself is real nice.

    Nick nice pick up.

Vito the White lettered variety are scarce in relation to the yellow counterparts.

Nick did the set also have the WL Mantle?

    Good for you.

No, and thank goodness because the seller I bought it from definitely would have caught that, and then might have checked the McCovey.

    Nick,

I'm sure the McCovey will pay for the entire set you bought!

They must be a little more forgiving with the OC in the '69 Topps. That sure is a pretty card! May it bring you great fortune!

EDIT: Unless you specified NQ, then I can see why it's "just" an 8.

My very primitive measuring skills tell me that it is 44/56 left to right, and 61/39 top to bottom.
