Three hall of famers in one pack for Milbroco (unfortunately with gum and centering issues). That's why I like 1972 OPC series 2 (when the packs are cleaner).
Therein lies the problem...of all the inopened packs from this era, 1972 OPC packs seem to be plagued by leeching gum more than any other. On the other hand, the gum in 1972 Topps packs is almist always dry (and brown), not the cotton candy pink of the OPC packs...

My 2 packs have been sitting here unopened as I tried to decide what I wanted to to.. still in the box from BBCE. Figured I'd take a look at them and open one. I was try to look at the centering on the first one and to my dismay... or not, I see "Hank Aaron". Well, knowing that there is an Aaron on the front and knowing the condition it is going to be in, I decided to keep it closed. So, what to do with this pack now? Save it for a rainy day, bust it, or send it in to have it graded? Since the name is visible, would they mark it as such on the slab?? As for the other pack, so stars and 5 decent cards. Only 3 of which I would consider submitting. Only one with perfect centering and that's #387 Horace Clarke.

<< <i>So who returned theirs and who kept them?I still don't know what to do. Mike >>
I still haven't gotten mine yet, but due to the scans being posted, I'll probably accept their offer to return them. Probably return them for something highly entertaining like a 1986 Topps Vending case (20 boxes of 500 cards per box for $100.00)

<< <i>Hello everyone. You guys have organized four rips this week definately keeping us busy. I've just seen the results of the first '72 OPC pack rip and had a call from another member commenting on the gum damage. While "jeffcbay" is happy with a "fun rip", others might not be. So, if anyone out there wants to return the unopened packs for a refund or store credit, just blast us an email and we will take care of you. Thanks, Rick. >>

THAT level of service is why I tell new and old collectors that they should make BBCE their ONLY choice for unopened products. >>
As some here know, I'll knock weasel baseball card sellers anytime they deserve it, but to give a lot of credit where credit is due, that is quite amazing to me that BBCE would take back unopened packs. Could it be perhaps it's because of this thread and the "power" of the CU forum? Maybe...but that doesn't matter to me because the fact is BBCE is taking back the packs, and that should be applauded. And in my opinion, that is a good business move on their part - doing what it takes to keep their customers happy. My hat's off to BBCE.
I think BBCE is always willing to work with us here because we help keep the lights on and the website running. The group rips alone that we ran last year probably had a total purchase price of around $40000. Not counting the fact that many of us that participate buy extra stuff to add to our group rip shipments.
Oh well, the packs are in hand, would probably be more trouble then it's worth to go through the send back process so I'm going to rip Stay tuned............

Nope, no staining, it's actually pretty nice, some of the white specs and stuff you see is from the scanner bed. The Munson looks kinda awkward in the scans because of the natural bowing, it's squared, not bowed as I didn't apply any pressure on the cards to scan them, just laid them on the surface of the scanner.

I figured as much on the scan. The card looks really good. It is too bad on the Reggie.
The Munson looks sharp, a definite 8+. If it were centered a bit higher, I'd say you have a good shot at a Mint 9. I've pulled two Munson 9s from 1972 OPC. One of my favorite cards. Munson and Seaver IA are always in same pack (or should be).

I'll be the first to admit that ripping old wax is a fool's game, but it does not stop me from doing it. I am a fool, but a happy fool none the less. I would caution those that do it for profit are doing so at a nearly nil chance. Those such as I that do it are doing it for the thrill, and for that it is OK. If you want to make money, go elsewhere for a return, if you want to rip it and get a thrill, have at it.

I agree with ya...if the buyer is given a "fair shake" by a dealer seller - in my opinion that might not have been the case here...again, just my opinion based on the comments from the other thread. Sorry to say that based on the comments in the other thread by a very knowledgeable member here, and based on the same knowledge about unopened packs that a large dealer in unopened packs is likely if not definitely is supposed to have, then I have to refer to this transaction as a weasel sale by the seller.
If the seller would have clearly stated that there is a distinct likelihood if not basically definitely a chance that the cards inside these packs were as they are, based on many other packs of the same...and sold them with that statement, then I'd see no problem with the sale, and if it was my sale and I described the packs as such and the packs were opened, I would not give the customer their money back. Based on the seller not disclosing what should have been known about these packs, I feel a full refund is in order, even on the opened packs.
You want a good seller to stay as a good seller and not pull any shenanigans, then hold the seller accountable and next time ordering from the seller, there in my view would be more confidence in the product. Ya don't want to do anything or say anything to the seller, then that is anyone's prerogative.

If I were BBCE, I would open all of the packs, and sell/grade the non-stained cards.
