WOW Got mine and ripped 1 pack. This was the best card I got. Sent it to PSA and got it back already. I will rip the other pack on Friday with everyone else.
ebay seller name milbroco email bcmiller7@comcast.net
Here's a checklist (scans to follow this evening):
Pack 1: 383 Brant Alyea 265 Wes Parker 475 Gary Nolan 293 Danny Frisella 391 Ken Sanders 406 George Hendrick 332 Buck Martinez 451 Tony LaRussa 322 Jose Pena
Pack 2: 312 Clay Carroll In Action 386 Jim Colborn 367 Ron Perranoski 393 Curt Motton 474 Baylor/Harrison/Oats Rookie 335 Bill Hands 514 Ted Sizemore 374 Jack Heidemann 429 Bob Robertson
Centering is all over the place, but the gum is BAD BAD BAD! Top 3 cards are ruined by gum and stains. The Baylor/Oats RC has perfect centering and corners (at a glance). Overall, I'm satisfied. FUN RIP!! Just beware of the gum, the worst I've ever seen.
The Oates/Baylor is by far the best of the bunch. Looking through them again, that card is the ONLY card that's centered, and in my opinion it's exactly 50/50 T/B/L/R. The LaRussa wasn't bad centering, but it has this peeled back corner, like the top surface of the card was bent back. Everything else has 80/20 centering or worse.
Here's the Oates/Baylor (black mark is from the cell camera). With the edges, corners, and centering, this card has a fantastic chance at at least a 9:
The grades on the 77 OPC's I have subbed weren't effected by the rough cut. I sent one that was horribly rough on one side but still got a 9. Probably only missed a 10 because of 95/5 cenering on the back. I have also subbed 1983-85 OPC and the rought cuts were all sent back as MC's. The smooth edged 80's OPCs got grades.
Hello everyone. You guys have organized four rips this week definately keeping us busy. I've just seen the results of the first '72 OPC pack rip and had a call from another member commenting on the gum damage. While "jeffcbay" is happy with a "fun rip", others might not be. So, if anyone out there wants to return the unopened packs for a refund or store credit, just blast us an email and we will take care of you. Thanks, Rick.

Wow. That's awesome of you Rick! That's why BBCE rocks!!
That's a cool offer Rick! That's why I hurried and posted my results, so I could maybe catch someone else before they opened theirs, so they could make an accurate decision on whether to rip or not. I'm still happy with my cards. I got one sub-able card, and three others that I'm subbing simply because only one card of each has ever been subbed. For pack collectors, I'd say they're worth keeping and maybe slabbing, but for rippers, I would think twice.
Thank you for the cool experience Rick, you have a customer for life!

Very cool of you Rick.I am glad I wasn't the sacrifical lamb that discovered the gum damage.I may still open mike even so. Mike
With both of my packs, the top 3. and the bottom card (wax) were toast. I've never seen the gum seep three cards deep. What would cause that? Damp storage?

Same with the 72s I've sent in. I prefer the rough cut, no chance that the card has been cleaned up or sheet cut.

THAT level of service is why I tell new and old collectors that they should make BBCE their ONLY choice for unopened products.
Folks Who Bite Get Bitten. Folks Who Don't Bite Get Eaten.
Probably return. I'm still satisfied, because this is the risk you take in opening 37 year old wax. The thrill alone is worth it to me. If I had it to do over again, I would have sent them back for something similar in age.

I now have a choice to make. My BBCE package did not arrive today, but a graded pack was delivered to my house. Do I remove it from it's tomb and rip it tonight and send one of my soon to be delivered packs to be graded or be patient and wait to rip both whence they arrive?

Thanks

<< <i>Post 'em if you got 'em. >>
I think everyone decided to get the packs graded, there will be no ripping

<< <i>How are the 72's for rough cuts? Are they common like on late 70's OPC?
Thanks
Mike >>
Yes, but in my experiences with grading 1972 OPC, PSA has had a little leniency for the rough cut.
Edit: My scanner will do them more justice
<< <i>Sweet Baylor. A PSA 9 would cover your cost of the rip and grading fees. >>
Well almost. The last 2 PSA 9's have sold for $41.10 and $40.01 respectively.

I don't do much box/pack ripping, but all I will ever do will come from BBCE.
<< <i>I will open one of mine and then decide whether to rip, grade or save the second pack. >>
I think after seeing this I will just send my 2 packs into be graded... These will look good in graded pack collection!
