Conference Championship Game Spreads

The opening lines are out from Vegas and I predict they will both be moving at least a point if not a point and a half by game time

Philadelphia -3 @ Arizona (O/U = 48)

Baltimore +5 @ Pittsburgh (O/U =33)

I think there will be heavy Baltimore action and the spread will be 3 by midweek.

The money lines (outright win) are not out yet.
I think a 2 team teaser of ARZ +10 and BAL +12 looks great. May make it a 3 team tease and bring the Over in the NFC down to 41

Good luck laying down hard earned cashed on a QB that went 11-28 for 115 yards with 0 TDs and 2 picks in the last meeting, which was a home game for him, by the way.

Dude, I know you think I hate the Steelers, the Pirates, The Penguins, Steel in general and the Monongehela River...but frankly I just care about money. And no one is betting on Joe Flacco. They're betting on Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.

I think both those lines are good...
  • Ben and Fast Willie and the Steelers offensive line have a lot of confidence right now. I see Pitts doing more scoring than their last meeting.
  • I think if the Pitt lines moves, it'll go up not down.

Philly oughta move to -3.5. I think this game will be quite different from their earlier encounter.

I think it would require a ton-- and I mean a ton-- of Philly money to move that game to -3.5. If that game moved to three and the hook sharp money would pour in on the Cardinals, and the books would run the very real risk of getting middled.

You could be right, but I think that line moves to 3 1/2 with an outside shot at 4...of course the "big boys" wanna see how McNabb and Westbrook come out of the game. McNabb looked very fresh and healthy after the game, but ya never know for sure until the next day or two when the swelling, bruising, etc., starts to set in.

It is now at 3 1/2 at the one major book I checked.

If Westbrook is basically certified as healthy sometime during the week, I think the line could move up a notch again.

Who cares? Time to back up the truck on the Cards. Assuming the opener was reasonably efficient, there's no reason to think that anything that's happened in the last 24 hrs. has suddenly given the Eagles a 5% greater chance of winning than they had before (which is what the move from 3 to 3.5 represents).

If anyone takes the Eagles at 3.5 it's time to check their body for four right angles and four sides of even length, because that's about the squarest best a man could ever make.

Hey, I must admit I was wrong about which side the early money came in on. The Steelers game is moving the other way. It's now Steelers -6. I still think the late money will be on BAL though.

I think it'll get back down to -3 later this week. It's hard to believe that Philly is favored more in Zona than in Philly against the Cards late in the season. I've gotta agree with Boopotts that it's time to take the Cards.

    AZ 34-17
    BAL 24-20

AZ is going to win the Super Bowl.

    My 2 cents!

Time to unload on the Cards. Assuming the opener was efficient, I have no reason to believe that anything which has transpired over the course of the week has improved the Eagles chances of winning this game by 9%.

  • It's back down to Philly -3.5 at pinnacle. If Philly wins this thing by 3 or 4, the books will get killed.
