  • Figured I'd give it a try since there are some O Pee Chee collectors here - I am looking to buy a 1965 OPC Pirate team, a 1971 OPC pirate team and any OPC High grade (psa 7-8 or better) Clemente cards. Thanks for any and all help. Please PM me with scan and asking price if you can help.

    -Howard

Ps. Would consider raw cards with potential as well.

    Howard,
I don't have any 65 OPC's. I'm also looking for a 71 OPC Pirates team card. I need it for my Al Oliver collection.

    B,
No new 80 OPC's yet. I've got a couple of 8's if you break down and start to add those.

If anyone is interested in starting the 78 set, all my extras are available. You can jump right into the number two spot.

    Thanks Jeff.
It took me three years and about 2 months to complete. I've still got about 10 cards I'd like to upgrade.

Now if I could just find the final 15 cards to complete my 77 OPC set.

Kudos to you - I know how hard it is to find hi grade 70s OPC material. I had the #1 '79 OPC for a while and sold it off about three years back when I needed money for a move. I've been kicking myself ever since. Good luck tracking down those last few '77s, my friend.

I have a PSA 10 Steve Garvey card in my Steve Garvey Master Set. As it's a 1 of 1, is there any way to gauge its value without listing it for sale somewhere?

It's highest value would be to other Garvey collectors.

I have noticed more interest in PSA 10'S on ebay. Does anyone have any high grade cards for sale? I am looking for PSA 10's.

Still love this set and have been piecing it together slowly over the years. I wish I could buy the 78 OPC wax box from myself in the post above for $305, lol.

I do have 4 boxes left, all with tape intact. I've been waiting for this set to gain some interest~may be time soon to crack open one of those boxes!

How did they determine what cards to add to the set? 240 versus 726 is a large difference. Are there any major stars or all-stars missing from OPC?
    Enjoy your collection!

Most of the big star cards are in there~Murray, Ryan, Brett, Schmidt, Seaver, etc. The one noteworthy omission is Molitor.

Very difficult set to build. Finding cards with nice centering and corners is hard enough, but then there are the surface issues (wrinkles) that plague this issue. I'm down to 36 to go. I thought I was done working on it a year ago, but I'm too far along to give up. I'm finding very little graded for sale anymore and finding decent raw is proving to be a crapshoot. I'll finish it up and upgrade just a couple. Here is my latest submission. Surface issues are the likely suspect with the 6's. These all look good enough to my eye (the wrinkles can only be seen if one really looks for them), so no plans to upgrade them. Hi Nick!

Good to see you posting about this very cool set! With wax packs still around $60 or so, it's one that you can still rip packs for, too (unlike 75 minis these days)! Some tough grades there as I know you have a keen eye for grading. It's been a while since I subbed 78 OPC or added to my set but I'm still working on it!

Good to hear from you, Tim! Thanks. I've struggled to calibrate surface and edge condition of these cards with the grading scale. It was the same way with the 75 mini's 10-15 years ago when I built that set. So, I've largely given up on "perfection." Instead, I focus on the corners, centering, and print quality. If the card looks good to my eye and surface flaws are difficult to see, then the card is fine with me. What it likely means is that the rest of the 36 I submit will look very much like this sub (PSA 6-9), which is fine with me. It's just a hobby.

Not too long ago I finished what I consider a pretty high end raw set. Many of the cards came in a large raw deal with Steve (balco). I did buy a couple graded examples of some toughies and cracked them out to finish.
