Academy Silver...

MeltdownMeltdown Posts: 8,774 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'm looking for any information on "Academy" .999 silver bars. I am considering buying a bunch of ten ounce stackable bars and was wondering if anyone has heard of them.
Thanks. There are a few selling on ebay currently, but mostly 100oz bars.

The 100 ouncers are the only ones I've seen. Doesn't mean that's all that's out there, just all that I've seen.

Ok scratch what I said. Here's a pic of one of the 10 ouncers.

They are new, but the company's been around 30 years from what I was told. They are pretty neat, raised on top and indented on the bottom for stacking.
I saw a box of 300 tonight and it was neatly stacked... & heavy. image

Anyone know if they are using mined silver or reclaimed silver?

Does the source matter? Isn't 999 silver considered pure no matter the source?

neat looking but never even knew about them. First time ever heard about them was on a ebay auction. You'd think if they were in business for 30 yrs they'd be well known like engelhard and JM.

Apparently, they are or were a dental supply company. Recently, they have just begun producing .999 silver bars. The ten ouncers are very new, I was told they've been doing 100oz bars for a little longer. They are based out of Albequerque, NM.

No it doesn't matter to me. Out of curiosity though I find that kind of information interesting.
