All smack aside - Great hard fought football game by the New York Giants - a team with class and dignity, and they always have been that way!

My hats off to them!!!

But ya gotta admit, it is confusing, the team name is one state and then they play in another state? That's why I keep getting it mixed up. And to top it off whenever I Google "New York Giants" to try to figure this out and find out what's going on here, it turns out there was once a baseball team in the 1950's by the name of "New York Giants" and now that team is playing somewhere I think it's in California. So why didn't the football team move out there with the baseball team? It's all very confusing.

Well, after the Eagles beat these "Giants" this Sunday, I won't have to worry about it no more because the Giants will be done.

My hatred for the Giants is going to be fueled by me hoping Philly beats them good- ala 34-0 style.
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,039 ✭✭✭✭✭
I Googled some more and there's a Mr. Manning who quarterbacks the New Jersey...I mean New York Giants. Is it Mr. Eli Manning or Mr. Peyton Manning? Again more confusion - I think it will be best for everyone concerned if these Giants get eliminated from the playoffs this Sunday.

Eagles go to the Super Bowl. And if Rush Limbaugh criticizes McNadd during Super Bowl week, they win it!

I'd like to see that happen in some way - McNabb seems to focus better and play better when he's ticked off.

Maybe I'll send him an e-mail calling him a dirty name. LOL

  • Although I have a low level of confidence in an Eagles victory, still can't bring myself to predict against the team.

    Eagles win, 27-24.

Aikers makes the difference with one or two FGs.

Eli is pressured throughout the game and throws a pick at an inopportune moment, allowing the Eagles to score what turns out to be the game deciding TD or FG.

I didn't look it up, but the number of teams winning these games against the rested team, certainly is a low percentage for a variety of reasons which I think we all here know. McNabb needs to bring his A+ game or we're dead - it's really that simple. Our D I ain't even worried about - one of the best in football. Overall, we are a better team than the New York Giants - Let's hope we prove that on the field.

This is one of my favorite weekends all year for football with 4 "meaningful" playoff games with the best teams. No pretenders in this bunch - they all got a shot at the Super Bowl, of course some a bit better than others.

BTW, Giants fans, this Sunday enjoy the game because it's gonna be the last game the Giants play this season.

I really don't care who wins. I hate both teams equally.

I have to give an edge to the Giants though. Either way, I can't wait. I'll be here, watching the game with some Rolling Rock to keep me company.

Good luck Steve and Keith. I can't hate on you guys just because my team sucks lol

Snow and sleet forecast for Eagles-Giants game

AP Sports Writer Ap Sports Writer – Fri Jan 9, 4:44 pm ETEAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The NFC semifinal between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants on Sunday probably will be played in near-freezing temperatures with wind gusts reaching 25 mph.

The National Weather Service said Friday a storm is expected to start Saturday afternoon and end early Sunday, leaving 6 to 8 inches of snow in the area where Giants Stadium is located.

"It looks like by gametime, it should be dry, but it will be cold," meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki told The Associated Press on Friday.

Ciemnecki said temperatures for the 1 p.m. EST kickoff will hover around 32 degrees, with winds gusting out of the northwest from 15 to 25 mph.

"It looks like classic cold football weather," Ciemnecki said. "There could be some snow showers left over for those heading to tailgate really early. That also could be an issue for clearing the parking lots."

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which operates the 78,000-seat stadium in the Meadowlands sports complex, salted the plazas, seating areas and stadium spirals on Friday and covered the field after the Giants practiced.

The authority plans to bring in 300 people starting around 3 p.m. Saturday to clear the snow out of the stadium. The crew will work through the night.

"We're shoveling," sports authority spokesman John Samerjan said.

The authority hopes to avoid another snowball game.

The Giants finished a woeful season (5-11) against San Diego in 1995, and many fans spent most of the second half throwing snowballs at the field. A Chargers trainer was hit and injured by a snowball, and several fans were arrested. The Giants later sent out letters to their fans warning that any future violations would result in them losing their tickets.

Samerjan said crews would continue to remove snow until 11 a.m. Sunday, when the gates open.

"Just because there is snow on your lawn doesn't mean you have to throw it at a neighbor," Samerjan said, noting the sports authority will have a no-tolerance policy toward anyone violating its fan code of conduct.

Giants players said the field conditions should not be a problem.

Halfback Brandon Jacobs said the ball might be wet and slippery, but it's something both teams have to handle.

"It's an artificial surface and the water doesn't absorb the same way it does on grass," defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka said. "You just have to adjust your shoes. We're used to playing on this stuff. You have to make sure your cleats are the right length. Once that is done, all you have to do is play ball."

Getting ready for game time - Got me Sam Adams cherry wheat ale, bags of BBQ chips, turkey & swiss hoagie - I'm ready!

I considered switching the hoagie to a chicken cheesesteak instead, but didn't want to jinx anything...the turkey & swiss hoagie has been bringing out Eagles wins...not that I'm superstitious or anything like that. LOL
