2009 "MMIX" UHR Saint.....

Looks like it will be priced about $400 over spot [+/-]...

Pricing Chart

I was hoping for $200 over or less...... Oh well, I guess I am still in for 10.

Thoughts?

This coin doesn't qualify for bullion in my opinion. Premium is way too high. Numismatic collector coin, yes.

May go over my CC limit on purchase.....Will the mint accept DEBIT cards with the visa/mastercard logo on.image Will be a "war zone" come the 22nd and want to be prepared.image
  • From the pictures I have seen it is a beautiful coin and I would love to have one. But, I will be hard pressed to part with $1,200 or so for a ounce of gold bullion.

.....Will the mint accept DEBIT cards with the visa/mastercard logo on/
    Yes they do accept them.
  • Well according to the chart at $850 gold a buffalo would cost $1,110 and a UHR would cost $1,189. Yeterday I could've purchased a 2008 NGC MS-69 gold buffalo for $930 with gold at $845 so why wouldn't you be able to purchase a raw UHR for $1,009?

All of these "bullion" coins sold directly to the public by the Mint are supposed to be collector coins. But it seems that after the new wears off & the eBay flipping subsides that the premiums drop to around bullion coin levels. Of course this kind of premium may quell alot of the flipping.

Since getting burned on the Jefferson Spouse at a show during all of the hoopla after the sell-out, think I'll take a wait-&-see position on this one. Although I'd love to have one, I'm in no hurry to get it. Who knows MS Cashback may return! image

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

With that kind of premium I don't see how it can be considered a "bullion" coin. Is it a commemorative or something else? How many will be made? Many gold commems were initially purchased at a premium to spot, then the premium eventually declined or disappeared in the aftermarket. Hard to tell what the eventual outcome will be on this coin.

The coin that you purchased was it the W or the bullion coin. Don't compare the non W's to the collector version. It's like comparing apples to oranges .... the same holds true if you compare NGC graded moderns to PCGS graded moderns.

Or, the pog will spike one day and never look back, the Mint will decide not to issue any more, and there will be offers 3X & 4X the original price, but no takers.

(Just idle speculation, no reason, just speculation).

$50 yo-yo in COMEX gold doesn't mean much in these times when one wants to buy and hold the real deal.

sure it isn't paper gold priced and with what the physical stuff is selling for, the mint price seems even more favorable.

I really do think it will be one of the more attractive coins the mint has ever produced, but it has no production limit and huge demand and that will basically mean they will trade at melt plus a small percentage down the road. remember Jefferson's spouse anyone? that even had a limit. these really are for the collector and not any sort of sound investment. It's not that all moderns are bad investments, The 2008 buffs and plats, could be a decent investment over time, but these are different, I'm assuming somwhere upwards of 50,000+ will be minted maybe more

I think it would be a mistake to hurry into, or go heavy on these, with an already steep premium. The novelty will wear off, how could it not?....need a RP plat anyone?

I will still try to get one in omp, eventually

One more week. Looks like the US Mint is re-pricing $50 less today as all the US golds are dark. Hope it holds or goes down another $50. image
