What is the cheapest Slabbing company?

I have a bunch of coins that I like but that are worth less than the $18 minimum that PCGS charges. Are there any companies that slab for $5 or so? Or if not, what's the cheapest option?

Thanks in advance.

Buy coin world slabs and do it yourself.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

In this case your best bet is to purchase the slabs and do it yourself. You can buy a better quality slab than what most of those unknown TPG's use and probably get a more realistic grade.

$10 per coin I think for dgs or anacs.
  • I believe NTC is at 8 dollars grading cost.

  • If they are not worth more then the grading fee, why would you want to have them slabbed????

Seems like we sometimes put too much stock in having to have EVERYTHING in a slab!!!!!!!!!

Why not buy a Dansco album and leave them "raw"........IMHO

As to "why slab a coin worth less than the slab"?

Reason 1: Because it's still worth a ton more than face and I figure in the slab it will stay worth that much. In the future the price may increase and if my coin has (for example) gone from Red to Brown then it's not worth a bit.

Reason 2: I like slabs image Some do, some don't. I do image I prefer my "top coins", even my pathetic ones, to be nicely slabbed so they take up 15x as much space image as raw.

I think I'll self slab though. It sounds close to the quality (maybe better) of the lesser slab companies and a quick scan of eBay resulted in buy prices under $1 per slab pretty easily.

I would go an extra step .... buy the intercept shield holders for the coins in question... I believe they are about $1 each...

Your gonna get what you pay for.If you think your coins are not up to par for the major TPG why bother with getting them graded with an opinion that might be less than what you might expect from a major TPG.Place the coins in a decent holder and label it yourself for that matter and save yourself the trouble.

Forget the TPGs. You have plenty of personal storage options. Not every coin was meant to be slabbed and, in my opinion, the game has gotten way out of hand. That the marketplace has nearly no confidence unless a coin has been taxed and certified by one of between one and four grading services is truly pathetic.

    Here's what I'm considering; Capital Plastics once I discover a inert sealer/glue.

As far as finding a cheap holder that will prevent your coins from turning red to brown.....well, good luck with that.

I recommend you sell off most of your coins, and buy a few worth enough each to justify the grading fees at ANACS.

You would be better off buying Coin World slab shells and making your own slabbed coins.

Slabs are kinda cool....................until you have a friggin ton of them. Then you kinda wish for the old small ANACS slabs just to save a little bit of space!

But.......if thats what you want then have at it.

I would recommend the $14 Moderns or the $18 Economy submissions.

I will not recommend some other grading company on PCGS's boards.

The cheapest ones are no better than raw. Either buck up for a reputable service or buy some Coin World holders if you want them slabbed.

And for coins in that price range, there's nothing wrong with raw -- it's easier to enjoy them raw anyway, IMO.
