probably none..the Georgia and Russia battle caused the Euro to drop and it helped lift the dollar which made silver drop a bit...but I'm no expert or even a novice, just what I noticed back then image

It would hurt silver and help gold.

Any real sabre rattling over there would have a large effect on gold.

Per fox news: Israeli ground forces cross border into northern Gaza Strip in escalation of offensive against Hamas

Wondering what the impact of the Israelis hitting Iranian nuclear sites will bring to the markets.

Israel has been doing everything under the radar to provoke this.

this will have zero impact on the PM market

Israel provoked this? All I saw was Hamas start it by sending 30+ rockets into Israel on Dec 24th.

This invasion will have relatively little effect by itself. Something unexpected or
significant threats by other regional players would have a big effect. Any action
by Iran or Syria would not already be factored into the markets.

Events that threaten stability tend to make gold look attractive but if these same
events threaten industrial production through oil shortages or allocation of resour-
ces to military applications then silver will be negatively impacted.

I expect that Israel planned this far better than they did the incursion into Lebanon, and that a much broader range of support exists for their dealing with Hamas than the street demonstrations indicate.

There's a good deal of posuring going on in the UN and in the Arab world, but I expect that most observers will let Israel do the dirty work here without important objection or efforts to punitively affect the markets. Iran may be the only party sincerely aggrieved, but the sanctions have long since cut off their significant global financial impact.

It's been expected for about a week. the invasion itself will have no impact... but if the oil producers take some action then anything could happen to PMs.

Care to give a few examples or even one example? Immediately after the attack on the WTC on 9/11, the TV news stations showed the palestinians dancing in the streets as if they each won the lottery so you can guess which side I am rooting for.

If it grows it could be huge for PM's many believe that in 79/80 when gold was $850 and silver was 50 bucks that gold rose because of silver. The real truth was the middle east countries were buying the crap out of gold due to Iran and the overthrow of the Shaw of Iran.

I wouldn't expect gold to move much unless the conflict expands. It's really a question of whether both sides are rational. I don't think that the palestinians are, therefore the odds are increasing for a bad turn of events, imo. Not a good thing for anybody.

  • They have been fighting long before we were born and will be fighting long after we are dead. Since neither country mines of hoards much PMs I can see how it would have any effect at all.

I can't even understand why they label it "news"

please send a PM to me if you have a question about this comment. i have responded to threads posted in a PM and below.

i really do not think it matters all that much as far as precious metals, it might do something to oil. there are two sides to EVERY story, neither is 100% right

this below was the PM I sent.....FWIW, the second sentence is of course IMHO and conviction.

yes at all the border crossings, taunting, bravado, by IDF weeks prior. the Israelis have controlled the border crossings, anyway.

Hamas IS evil, Israel wants an excuse to wipe them out, i should have made it more clear in my post but i have a feeling this thread will get nuked sooner or later.

Oil went up this morning in reaction to Iran threatening a boycott in response to the IDF's actions.
