Artsy Oak

Another of my favorite Early Commems. Commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the founding of the colony of Connecticut. Henry Kreis of Essen, Germany who came to the US in 1933 designed the coin with the overly large Oak Leaves to easily distinguish the tree as an Oak. The Eagle on the reverse is kind of Art Deco popular at the time.
The history of the "Charter Oak" is one everyone should read up on. It is strong symbol of liberty and independence. The total mintage is about 25,000.

Also one of my favorite designs, although I have yet to own one, and indeed the Charter Oak is a strong symbol in our history.
I really like the look of that one, nice color ... thanks for sharing!
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Another one of if not my favorite design. I like the look on that one too.
Heres mine.
I'm not too sure about the eagle though...
I don't know if it was at or nt, but it was gorgeous.
I wish I would have won it.
