Guess the respective grades on these buffernicks--1925 and 1927-D, respectively. No problems with these; PCGS slabbed them both.
A nice test for bison mavens!

I'll go PQ 64 on the 1925, held back only by a couple of hits on the obverse. Wouldn't be suprised if it went higher.

Not a fan and still not sure what to make of the surfaces on the 27-D. 62/63?

Not my series but I will agree with GA.

Not sure of the grades but that 1925 has probably the best strike I have seen on that normally mushy date. Very nice.

They both graded MS63--exactly what I hoped for with each coin. Neither coin is better than that grade as the luster isn't much on either piece, and the strikes are average. On the other hand, MS62 would indicate they thought there was possible wear somewhere, and that isn't the case. As they rarely give out a grade of MS61, and the buffs are simply better than MS60, I think MS63 is right on the money.

The 25 is a 63, but I think the 27-D is a 64.

Once upon a time, I bought a 1927-D in PCGS MS64 from a certain forum member. It's a heckuva coin, one of the best in my collection. In order for the forum member to remain nameless, I'll refer to him as Shamika.
I don't think this coin is quite the equal of that one--unless, of course, the one I got from the Shamika guy is actually an MS65 is disguise!
