Best thread/post of 2008?

Now that 2008 is finally coming to a close, I was wondering which thread/post you guys thought was the best of the year. Haven't found mine yet, will update with my pick later in the day.

Also, provide a link if you can.

Here's to a great 2009!

A bunch of Haiku poems, attempting to summarize the year:
(A haiku is a short 3 line poem, the first and last lines having 5 syllables and the second line having 7 syllables. They are easy to make, just think of a short phrase. Then drink some rum or beer and think of two more.)

    Best thread of the year
Is it sweet copper from Lee?
    Broadstrucks funny pics?

    Copper is good stuff
    Regular weekly pictures
    I prefer the gold.

    The periodic
    Bear and Jelly Donut thread
    Will he get his fill?

    Longacre question.
Enough to make my head hurt.
    Gets a good answer.

    Silver eagle coin
They screwed the reverse up good
    John Nanney; ka-ching!

    The best ones are gone
    Destroyed by those with power.
    Ripe talk will go poof.

    Mark Goodman photos
    Get that book; better pictures
    Use your camera well.

    Precious metal post.
High volume of non coin stuff.
    Got your own forum.

    Informational
    Numismatic inclined stuff
    RWK or B

    Saintguru spent cash.
    A bazillion on that coin
    He wants comfort now.

    Many eBay threads
Does it need its own forum
    Not on this website.

    Marty and chicken
Isn't it worn out by now?
    It needs a washing.

    AT or NT
    It is the constant puzzle
    No certain answer.

    Brandon is pissed off.
    Don't mention Costa Rica.
    Cannot blame the man.

    The giveaway post
Free stuff for the right answer
    Twenty questions; ouch!

    Death and injury
    Saddest threads on this forum
    Prayers are offered.

    So many gone now
    Bongo Bongo and Mark Feld
    Never to come back.

    Some folks are missing.
This Haiku list could be huge.
    This is tiring.

    I left some folks out
But I have a good excuse.
    I'm very new here.

One more stupid poem born of frustration:

    Search the word "Peacock".
You will find it is not there

Best as in most entertaining or best as in coin related?

I was thinking the same thing. The whole saga was truly amazing.

I second that for most entertaining, especially since it was so short lived, and still got over 100 replies I think!

The War Cent made of aluminum (IIRC) was a cool post, and I also enjoyed SG's trip to the Smithsonian Thread. Those would probably be my top three for entertainment value at least.

Edited to add Link to 1942 Pattern Cent thread

Can't remember the author but the thread was the longest one I have ever seen ... someone inherited a massive collection and was sharing the whole thing with beautiful pictures of everything and sometimes more of his family members would chime in. I would like to read it again if somone has the link.

Oh, man, I can't stop. I forgot all about the Stone Holey thread:

One more stupid poem if I may, as I don't want to leave out this very important thread of the year:

    Search for the holed rock
Found the house but not the stone.
    Freaked out some poor sod

Here's a link to the most recent I could find on this. Search on the author for others, Darth5oh. I agree that was pretty interesting about the collection and the store behind it.
Edited to add: I overlooked that this was posted in 2007. Time flies by.......

The Langbord case has intriqued me for a long time. (Sanction II)

Jay took photos with his cell phone, out of a place where cameras weren't allowed, to show us national treasures. The ultimate act of civil disobedience for the sake of coin geeks. (St Guru's)

Brandon's 5000 post giveaway was a good thread for promoting learning.

Adrian and the saga in Costa Rica was wrought with drama, fear and an outpouring of "love". (poofed, but funnest)

Daniel Carr's "Denver Mint" is right up there for a behind the scenes look at "mechanics of numismatics" which involves electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and all sorts of other stuff, to boot. (DCarr)

Numerous CAC threads started off with great discussions. (poofed)

Overall it was a learning year. TDN pegged the gold market about 5 months before it tanked and anyone who pays attention would have seen his thread move to the precious metals forum, where many more lessons are learned.

The John Nanney thread is a phenom and excellent for the hobby. It's what makes me continue to believe in the "magic" of moderns. I'll admit I taunt and push buttons image Kudos.... (mach 19). Here's to bringing more collectors into the hobby than anyone else.

    And for 2009: image

#1) Lordmarcovan's metal detecting threads were thoroughly enjoyable while they were tolerated by the mods. I enjoyed treasure hunting vicariously through Rob's tales of adventure.

#2) Russ' thorough thrashing of the bottom feeding bait and switch dealer. Never, ever eff with Russ.

(I managed to link the stone holey thread here. This is not a metal detector thread. I blame society.)

#2) Russ' thorough thrashing of the bottom feeding bait and switch dealer. Never, ever eff with Russ.
(I'm not certain this last thread qualifies, as it appears to come from 2002. But it's a good read anyway. Don't screw with Russ, not relating to Kennedy Halves anyway!)

    Here is a good one.

Our own SaintGuru, authoritatively saying that we are all to hard on grading gold

It was a guess-the-grade thread on a "58" coin. Many folks said "low 60s" including me. But...Mr. Guru had other thoughts.

I got a death threat out of this one, apparently.
