I have one hobby box that I've had for a few years. I used to buy from a guy in Chicago who claimed he had a sealed case, but he stopped selling about six months ago. Don't know what happened to the case, if it existed.
As to collation, I bought two 2001 blaster boxes on eBay. Each pack had at least two low numbered black backs and one low numbered red back. There were also three or four high numbered short prints per box.
I may know some things, but i am not sitting on much 2001 product...and i *never* sit on unopened product. And I never sit on autos. I usually bust it, but 2001 is too pricey to bust, always a better choice to resell, unless you can get it in the 100-150 range.
I *am* sitting on about 5000 short prints from 2001-2007 (fairly evenly distributed), and about 2000 inserts. I've also picked up a ton of game used recently, but i don't collect those either. I'll say this: there are only about 5 people that have a complete 2001 master set with all the red/blue autos....one is olbermann, and one is matt. BJ's been in the game from the beginning but I don't think he is an auto collector.
And consider that the matthews auto does NOT exist...even though its on the checklist. He died in feb of 2001....before he could sign any of the autos which were redemption only.
And here's my nugget: there IS a white-back variation of the 2001 set.....not every card, but many from the base set.
