It appears that the locked thread has been edited/changed to go back to 1969 instead of only going back to 1972. That would be great, and maybe carolj can confirm this since most members probably arent re-reading the locked thread (but I did) to notice the change.

This is correct.
The special was supposed to be 1956-1968 ($6 for 10 cards under $100) and 1969-present ($5 for 10 cards under $100). It includes more years now.
