Ummm... because 1 ounce of silver is worth much less than 10 ounces??
"Men who had never shown any ability to make or increase fortunes for themselves abounded in brilliant plans for creating and increasing wealth for the country at large." Fiat Money Inflation in France, Andrew Dickson White (1912)
to me it is simply supply and demand. for some odd reason people are willing to pay high premiums if the silver comes in a certain form and shape, which to a point seems reasonable.. if new, or govt back, or what not.
if they are selling at 150.. it would be interesting to know their buy price. i would guess 11.50 or so ;-) Which should be very eye opening to potential buyers!
<< <i>Who knows....could be one of their ongoing "Christmas Sales" ... check back in a couple of days to see if it's still applicable. >>
That's the answer. It is their final "12 days of christmas sales"
They are selling the silver rounds for $1.49 over spot in any quantity today only. Will be back to normal tomorrow. They won't ship what you buy today til January 15 - but still an awesome deal.

I just purchased 100 silver rounds, I like the buffalo design and with eagles running around $4 over spot I thought $1.49 over was a pretty good deal.
$1.49 over spot? That's more than a 14% premium! Why would anyone pay that when you can buy silver in 1,000 oz bars from Kitco for less than a 3% premium or about 30 cents over spot?

Try reselling 1000 oz bars without an assay. Many have been filled with lead.

So you have 10 grand to invest. Do you just buy it all at once or do you average like any investment? Does the .30 cents over spot included shipping? If not there goes several hundred dollars to get delivery. Has the bar been assayed? If not has it been tampered with? Are you buying this to sell in the near future? If so expect more shipping cost to sell it and have it assayed once again.
The 1000 ounce bar sounds good but there a lot more expenses than just going out locally and buying a ounce coin, 10 ounce or 100 ounce bar that's wrapped by a name brand company that can be sold in your area without all the waiting and fees involved in the 1000 ounce bar. Let's face it most people buy what they can when they can, the 1000 oz bar isn't realistic as far as I'm concerned. I much prefer 1000 dollar bag of junk silver that can be split up if I were going to buy 100's of ounces.
I've seen a lot of talk of 1000 ounce bars and I've heard all the delivery issues. Some claim they can get them right away but I haven't seen any proof that certified bars can be picked up easy at all for possession by you but you can buy into a pool and hope. If 1000 ounce bars were easy to get the mint's supplier wouldn't have any problem producing coin blanks that the world mints are needing right now. JMO

I sell tons of one ounce rounds bars eagles and maple leaves, a few 100 ozers, and have never sold or even had interest in a 1000 oz bar

It also depends on the brand and demand.....
