Probably not for long, if Longacre continues to call her "The Man".

The "plug" is simply awe. One has to admire a collector with the dedication to quality like Dale does.

Must be hard to sell a collection like that. Hope he has the appropriate reserves in.

Yup. a decent single malt, but now the carpet will smell like peat smoke. I missed the meeting too; was at the office late. you gotta' love our snoozer meetings!? image
  • I will second the motion; Dale is an absolutely "superb gem" collector !!! Those Barber halves are awesome, as have been many of Dale's prior sets, such as his Barber quarters, proof Barber halves, Liberty nickels, and of course his early halves (of which I have seen only a few, but knowing Dale, I can guess how great the rest are).

    Agreed.

I stood over them at the Heritage booth at the Long Beach show, and just stared. I was so blown away. I kept trying to decide which one I liked the most --- an impossible task. Over the top material...

No substitute for knowledge. Dale is a collector that knows what he is doing. You can tell if you've had the chance to see some of his coins.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

Very nice coins! Very nice photography by Goodman! All seen from the registry set where the coins are pictured. I have also took note of the the heritage photography?? image I guess no-one here wants to stress which set of photos to bid by if they can't make the Fun show?
It's also interesting how heritage has full blown pics of almost every coin from that set!

Dale has not only put together many incredible assemblages of various collections, but he is also one of the most pleasant and nicest people I have had the opportunity to meet and get to know. One of the great benefits of the registry program.

After first meeting him and his lovely wife at the Denver ANA, I had the opportunity to spend a few hours with him about a year later to view his Barber Halves in person and show him my growing half dollar collection. Not only was it wonderful to study each piece and share together, but the stories of the hunt for several of the coins was even more fun.

I saw the set in Baltimore and will do one more study of them in Orlando before they are passed on and disbursed to the next lucky collectors fortunate to acquire them.

Reading the first description for the 1892 which starts off the Heritage listing, this will be a pretty special event for those of us who collect the series as we try to add pieces or upgrade others. Especially considering they are from Dale and his efforts. It doesn't get much better then this.

I look forward to looking at Dale's coins in person once again and attending the sale in Orlando.

I notice his INCREDIBLE 1892-O micro O PCGS MS 68 Eliasberg coin already has a very substantial bid on it.

Great job on building such a nice set Dale!

A large bid, but nothing substancial on the Micro O.
I think Heritage could have done a much better job with the online image, it gets quite a bit grainy even after the first zoom.
